Richard "Dick" McDonald (February 16, 1909 – July 14, 1998) and Maurice "Mac" McDonald (November 26, 1902 – December1971) were two early Americanfast food pioneers, originally from New Hampshire, who established the first McDonald's restaurant in 1940. The McDonald family were of Irish origin, not of Scottish origin, as sometimes stated (McDonald is an extremely common name in both countries). However this has come under scrutiny with recent genealogy showing the family originated from Glencoe, Scotland. This was brought to light when McDonald's refused to put menus in Scottish Gaelic, locals argued this was the McDonald ancestral home and not putting menus in gaelic was an insult to the brothers' heritage.

Reason: Automerged Doublepost
they did indeed, invent the 'modern' hamburger... eyeballs, testicles and hooves ground up and slapped in some tepid fat and slapped between some sweetened buns. mmm, sweetened buns...
You are heading south again unwell. Maybe thats a Wimpy burger.
Louis Lassen had sailors coming home after WW1 telling him about a ground meat steak they enjoyed in Hamburg Germany. So he came up with the idea of ground beef on a bun and sold them in his restaurant in Conneticut. He called them hamburgers in honor of the city.

Indian curry can be too rich in herbs, poor quality meat in Bangkok (ie: old goat meat masquerading as lamb) and bad hygeine standards in restaurants, well some of them, can give you the shits the following morning...
Thai curries can be too chilli-basil hot (jungle curry an exemple) and completely ruin the dining experience, but they are far healthier and less oily..
Thai curries are divided into:
Yellow curry: Mainly contain potatoes and chicken. A watered down fish version is popular in the south.
Green curry: Universally popular and a good feed when it is done correctly. Any meat and veg is good (apart from beef or pork) and eaten with an omlette and white rice makes a spicy, filling breakfast. Beware the version with fresh, red chillies.
Red curry: A unique taste of hot basil spice and coconut milk (yawn) which goes best with pork or chicken. A thicker stir-fried version with green beans and chicken on the bone (or pork) is a bit spicier and contains a bit of a kick, and tends to be a bit oily.
Panang curry: A brown coloured peanut curry usually contains pork and basil leaves and has a unique, tasty flavour unlike any of the traffic-light curries. Great with rice and omlettes again.
Masaman curry: Made with beef and potatoes OR chicken and potatoes, this is a southern curry favoured by the muslim population. A coconutty flavour, slight spice and thicker liquid make this quite a filling dish, great for lining the guts before a night on the tiles.

In the Middle Ages, Hamburg was an important center of trade between Arab and European merchants. The theory is that Arab traders introduced Kibbeh, which is ground lamb mixed with spices, often eaten raw. The locals then adapted the dish by replacing the lamb with pork and/or beef, and more significantly, by cooking it to make a filet of ground meat, i.e., a "Hamburg Steak" or "Hamburger" as it eventually came to be known. From this they made a new and unique kind of Rundstück warm that came to be strongly associated with the city.
There is still a German tradition of making ground beef sandwiches, thought to descend from the original "Hamburg Rundstück," and which tend to be elongated like an American sub sandwich, and feature very different condiments than the typical modern hamburger. These are often referred to as "German hamburgers" outside of Germany, and are served in many German-food restaurants.
Although to be fair:
Quote:
Although Hamburg, Germany is credited for the precursor to the hamburger, the origins of the first "modern" hamburger are often debated among scholars. [1] Of much debate is what exactly constitutes the "modern" hamburger, although there is general consensus that it refers to a hamburger patty's placement in a hamburger bun (not just any piece of bread). The hamburger bun is said to have been invented in 1916 by Walter Anderson, a short-order cook, who went on to co-found White Castle in 1921. Before the bun, hamburgers are said to have been served between two pieces of bread. In fact, a ground beef patty was known as "Hamburger steak" (first mentioned in an American cookbook in 1891); when this was put between bread or in a bun it was called a "Hamburger sandwich".

Just noticed a contradiction there. Apologies.
