Oh she does mate, but she loves Malai Kofka the most, she can eat up a couple of bowls herself. But she always compares it to the underground restaurant at the Continental Hotel in Penang, and says its not quite as good.

Matt....can you please clarify how you clarify butter PWEASE?
I can clarify the clarifying butter question, Ken.
You melt the butter, and skim the bubbly bits off the top and then strain it through cheesecloth.
You have to do this several times until the all the water is evaporated and the milk solids are strained out of it.
What is left is the fat and that is Ghee. It is able to be heated at a higher heat than butter and is supposed to last longer than butter, but some ghee I have smelt in India, smelt rancid.
And much better in the south than up here. Peanuts in it are always nice.

I just went for some indian food this afternoon. I had 'Chicken Tikka Masala' with some Garlic nan, Indian tea, and ice water. It costed about 170 baht altogether. At a new place called Masala. It is directly up the road from 'Oh My Cod'. If you go to the intersection up the street from OMC and cross to the next street just keep walking and it will be on your right hand side (yellow sign). There is a tailor next door. I think it's pretty damn good. There is also another one somewhere next to it where you have to sit on the floor.

I had fantastic tikka masala and nan in the new food court in MBK. very simple and didnt have to deal with tacky indian restaraunt ambiance.
Thanks so very much. I dont need a car to go there. I can go at off peak hours. You are a saint to a claustrophobic person like me. And rightly priced as well I am sure.
Up market coupon or card is what I am guessing?

the new food court there is quite good. my friend and i ate there a few weeks ago. you get a card when you go in then pay on the way out. i did have a philly cheese steak sandwich that was bad. the indian was good however. very spacious. i think it was 150b for the masala and nan. can have wine as well, a bar on site. BYOB places on 10th in NYC are great but you have mirrors on the walls, christmas light chillis hanging up, but th efood is cheap and tasty. here you get shpeals of how the quality is better than everywhere else, you will come back. yikes!!!! not so at the MBK, although he did ask me what country i came from. dude, they love americans!!! haha

Re: Curries. Thai vs Indian
Indian much better. Why? Cause it's HOT! Bangladeshi is even hotter. Some B-mates of mine gave me cooking lessons for curry and I make it once a week and eat for three days.

For me its not the hot. Thai curries are hot, but just hot, no subtle flavours that make it spicy as well. I dont like the fiery south Indian or Sri Lankan curries nearly as much as the northern Indian ones. Dont get me wrong I love hot food, but with a taste other than heat. Its why I like jalapeno and habanero chilies more than pricky new, and whatever the hell is the name of the bigger hot Thai chilies.

i had a really good thai curry at school the other day. had chicken and pumpkin in it, tasted almost like an indian curry. great suprise for me! indian curries are a bit more pleasing to me due to their difference between each curry. thai curries tend to have the same sort of flavor around the board. i still like thai curries but prefer indian. i also like to eat curries with bread opposed to rice.
