Also factor in the pushing and shoving to get to the bar, the endless wait for service, and the colossal shafting you take when you pay. Drink your pint immediately upon receiving it, because even if you are lucky enough to find a corner of the pub to lean/rest it, you will have had it jossled all over your shirt by the time you get back there.
That's one thing I really like about pubs over here - the waitress service.

..and I'm still waiting for TC to do a guide to Italian restaurants in Bangkok. How about it, TC?

I haven't seen the ad. Which paper? but my money is on The Highlander

    Added after 6 minutes:

    Marmite says

"The Dubliner – Corner of Sukhumvit & Washington Square - http://www.dublinerasia.com/

The Dubliner is a full on Oirish Pub that has been around for a while now. It boasts three floors – two for eating and drinking and one for pool & darts. They have Irish bands playing live downstairs (which gets on my nerves, as I can’t stand it) sometimes and show live sport on the big screen TV. The menu is excellent, but a tad pricey. The Dubliner is looking for a new home, as the existing lease is not going to be renewed in 18 months time. "

Marmite you appear to be well informed. Any idea where they will be moving to? or what will be going up in its place?
Have they plans to renovate the whole area around the pub. I have always thought there is a fair amount of wasted space that could be used by some property develop to construct another condo block or shopping mall.

Ah, sorry about that. I had actually changed that after speaking to the manager of the Irish X-Change, but when I re-posted the thread, it went back to the original. If you know what I'm saying?

The Dubliner is NOT moving - I'll change the OP too.

Just a quick note. For anyone who is headingg up to Chiang Mai, The Pub. On the road to Doi Suthep, close to the Uni. Good atmosphere, good food, bottled and draught beer. I'm a 3 hr drive away, and never miss going in when I'm in town.

Just for those who might be going to visit C.Mai :chug:
to be or not to be.......didn't know will was a tefler

Has anyone tried the Bear's Den in Chiang Mai? A friend of mine owns it, but I've not visited it yet.

When back in Blighty (very, very rarely), I find I have to head to Cornwall to find a real 'English' pub. Failing that (as it's a long way to travel for those north-east lads), any pub in the countryside.

I'd die for a decent pint of the ol' Brown Ale (or a decent Bitter).

Where can I find Stone's Ginger Wine and/or Gold Label (barley wine - you'll be rat-arsed after two or three small bottles...)?

I should say where in LOS (for those other smart arses out there wasting away on the teachers' computer, trying to do the same as me - look busy, keep a low profile & buggar off home by lunchtime!).
