Hello All - I am the barer of bad news...
Just been on the phone with Geoff, was about to make this post when he called.
Sunday is the elections for Bangkok Govenor and the local police have told all bar and restaurant owners we are not permitted to sell alchohol after 6pm on Saturday!!! Please try and get down here early and have ya fill ...Really sorry about this but the elections are the only time when it is actually law not to sell beer!!!

the ling lives really close to me so it'll be dead easy for him and family to call over.

Things on offer;
Every month or so we have elections so no beer is sold during that weekend as we don't want tourists getting pissed and being bought to vote.
Before 6pm you can't buy alcohol in any 7/11s or supermarkets, why? er...because..don't ask stupid questions.
We are trying to make it that on any public holiday, say New years day or anything where you would like to have a drink you can't, this is because a lot of people drink too much alcohol in Thailand so if we stop it then it will help this er...,.
So make sure you get that ticket booked as we'll be changing everything again when we want to or if we can't remember what we decided then we'll just think of some new laws.
(sorry to any Thais on the forum (i1der)don't mean anything by all of that, think you know what I mean though)
