Well, I'm just acknowledging that my taste in film entertainment is not that elevated. I'm aware that a lot of popular films are formulaic, have weak plots and bad acting. But like I said, I'm not that demanding and they have their place.

Sorry to have soiled this elevated discussion with my lowbrow comments though

really....it's ironic all that bilge would one day settle in your lowbrows...

...you didn't mention a sloping forehead...saving that for the next post?

Re: Oct. 16th: "Cherm" at FCCT

Went last night, it was great to talk to the screenwriter/director and tell him what an absolutely excellent movie he made. Pretty decent crowd there, most of whom hadn't seen the film before. I forgot, unfortunately, to ask the fellow from the film company where exactly to find the version of the DVD with English subtitles. Doh.

Then we watched the film and, as usual, it made me cry tears of appreciation and a certain melancholic joy. That's the main thing about this film, it's full of melancholic joy and basic goodness wrapped in the heart of genuine sadness, something I find entirely missing from Thai film/art in general.

Bittersweet.

Gotta love it!

I may be a tool for saying bad things about Thai film without having seen most of the stuff posted above.

Scratch that.

I AM a tool. I'm off to download a few more tings
