I am wondering if anyone here ever tried Snake wine?
I have a friend who received a bottle as a gift and is not sure if he should drink it or just keep it for show. I have never tried the stuff myself.
Here are various pics of the stuff:

I have never tried it, but I definitely think you should! Even if it tastes gross, at least you can say you have done it. Life is short.
I tried it in Laos some time ago. Had a bit of a kick and it wasn't the tastiest thing I ever had, but if I could still drink, I would gladly try it again. Tell your friend to go easy on it though.
more time for wastin'
I've got a bottle something like this one sitting at home:
Opening it and drinking has never really crossed my mind!![]()
^That looks so gross. I wouldn't try it, but I'm not your friend.
Apparently, Many Vietnamese men believe that drinking snake-blood enhances both good fortune and sexual prowess.
....I understand formaldehyde wine has a good kick, too...
...I think some labs offer fetus wine as well (under the counter)...
...majestically enthroned amid the vulgar herd...
I tried it in Nam.
Yeah, it's okay, but not something I would want to get drunk on or have a hangover from.
Did it make me feel horny baby? Not in the slightest!
^...another folksy myth bites the dust...
Here's a baby mice wine that is imbibed in Korea. Apparently Chinese produced.
Baby mice wine is a traditional Chinese and Korean "health tonic," which apparently tastes like raw gasoline. Little mice, eyes still closed, are plucked from the embrace of their loving mothers and stuffed (while still alive) into a bottle of rice wine. They are left to ferment while their parents wring their tiny mouse paws in despair, tears drooping sadly from the tips of their whiskers.

Shared a bottle with two little Vietnamese business owners in Saigon. Tasted okay with soda - BUT - worst hangover I ever had, even worse than week old Mekong.

Naw,...no, no....I don't eat or drink things that are that twisted! The deepest I've ever gotten is dog soup and live octopus...which are both nearly standard for expats here to try at least once.
Dog Soup? I bet it tastes like chicken!
I've had snake curry in Vietnam before. It tasted like chicken!
Live Octopus sounds interesting. My heritage is Maltese. The Maltese have a traditional dish where they make Spaghetti sauce out of the tentacles and add a bit of wine with the sauce. It is one of my favorites.
