I've just found out that Club Culture have in fact dropped the prices on the booze and they are now pretty much the same as any Bangkok bar/nightclub.

I spent 2 years in Bangkok and the best nights were always the Popscene nights, especially the 1960s/Northern Soul 'Backbeat' nights... as for the indie one, you need to mix up a bit of the old-hat classics for nostalgia to get 'the masses' interested enough, and then throw in some more obscure, but bloody good tracks to showcase how diverse music is, and that is what in my opinion Popscene does best. And it shits on any other club night in Bangkok, by a mile.
The Standards are a bloody good live act too. So what if there is a bit of banging around? I'd rather go and have a bop and see some real passion for music that watch some crooner warbling Thai love-song rock-shite on a stool, looking forlornly into the distance. Get yourself down to one of these club nights, and have a bloody good night.
Sounds like a good night out. Thanks for the insight. We used to have this bar in my town in the UK where at it's peak back around 2002-5 it was just an amazing place. Current stuff blended with quality classics, but classics off the beaten track sorta thing. Music style was mixed right up and it attracted anyone from late teens to late fifties. I always found places that attract a wide age range tend to be the very best. Young and old together cannot be wrong when it comes to this sort of thing.
Here here, Fleabag!!!
This is just spam dressed up as an innocent post, right?
The Standards are playing at The Robin Hood pub on Friday the 27th of April, free entry.
