    Good Fruit Bad Fruit

Fruit best to stay clear of? I remember someone saying not to have too much of a certain fruit, can't remember what though; them orange bumpy things perhaps?

    Favorite fruit? Usual price?
I've started my own blog. It's not very good -

It's rumoured that too much jack fruit will make you ill. I've eaten a fair amount and never had a problem.

Excessive durian consumption is also meant to be bad for you.

Mangostein is my favorite. Steer clear of the fruits in Silom...unless that's your thing.

Mangostein for me too... I'd never even seen one before I came to Thailand... Absolutely delicious. At tescos now you can buy 5 or 6 of them for about 10 baht.

And Mango comes a close 2nd.

I like durian, just going soft.
Don't eat while drinking beer and don't eat too much because it makes your temperature go up.
    Mangostine will lower it.
lam yai give you a sore throat if you eat too much, and should not be consumed with alcohol.

there's reason to believe that these are old wives' tales (for one thing i've had durian with beer or even gin and tonic with no ill effects) but it's not uncommon for edible plants to be slightly poisonous (or have poisonous parts, like peach pits, or start out poisonous and have most of it bred out of 'em, like cabbage).
    Imodium can't stop me.

A Thai coworker saw me eating durian and told me that too much will make me fat. I guess that would be bad.
Ever try jackfruit stuffed with sweet sticky rice? So good, but can't be too good for you.

I agree, and ive eaten it while drinking. I think it's more about excessively. It's a fact that it raises you temerature, and doctors tell pregnant women not to eat it.

    ---Update---

Durian is the king of fruit and mangostien is the queen in Thai fruit culture.
I like Dragon fruit as well.

My old mum had very specific - very strict - instructions not to eat grapefruit. It did something to the medication I think. Something really bad.
