they were a great band, but that doesn't make them great musicians, or even that they were great songs. Of course, how good their songs are is all subjective, and I do like a lot of their stuff a lot, but some time after definietly maybe, and morning glory, I started losing the ability to tell 1 song from another.

    ---Update---

likewise the beatles were not special musicians, and for the most part the lyrics were nonesense, (I am the egg man), but somehow had the making of a great band.

I can't believe the writing ability of N.G. can be seriously argued as being anything but among the best there ever has been in Rock music.

    My Fav:

Oasis - The Masterplan (High Quality) Masterpiece - YouTube

I believe it's on their set list too.

    I'm not arguing PP.

Here's a glimpse into my life.

I have a son, he's now 15. His middle names are Mark Noel. Mark for one of my best friends who died at age 19, whose favourites song was this and Noel for....You got it.

Here's a thought for every man who tries to understand what is in his hands (what's in his hands)

He walks along the open road of love and life,to find it if he can (to find it if he can)

Bound with all the weight of all the words he tried to say

Chained to all the places that he never wished to stay

Bound with all the weight of all the words he tried to say

As he faced the sun he cast no shadow

    (Haaaaaaaa-ah)

As they took his soul they stole his pride

As he faced the sun he cast no shadow

    (Haaaaaaaa-ah)

    (Haaaaaaaa-ah)

    (Haaaaaaaa-ah)

I'm not one to argue about music--I think taste is taste--but you've got to admire Jarvis for combining that artsy dropout style with a bit of wry humor in a way that is both typical and unique:

Pulp isn't my favorite band of the era by any stretch of the imagination--but I have a personal affection for them because they were my first connection with the English working class society that I'd end up living next to for half of my 20's.

Good songwriter (I loved Oasis but that was in 1994) but his voice is a bit too dull for me to fork out 2,000 baht or whatever.

    Each to their own...enjoy.
