Are you serious?
You've 'banned' everyone you know from mentioning smoking?
Despite the fact that giving up has been a breeze for you?

Re: Stopped smoking .... so easy !?
... and I thought you advised not to change anything about your lifestyle except smoking. Losing 2 mates during the course of one week is a rather dramatic change, I'd say.
As mentioned before, most of my close friends smoke, so I have gently suggested that they at least explore the physiological and psychological explanation to their nicotine addictions. The most enlightening discovery for me was actually understanding my addiction. The rest was comparatively easy. I am trying hard not to be an annoying prick of an ex-smoker, and believe that I have managed nicely so far.
One friend already quit (1 week+) as a result of my gentle prodding. My next test case will be my mother (a heavy smoker for 45+ years). I know she wants to quit, but is afraid of the unknown.
Cheers.

They were both given friendly warnings not to gloat over the fact that I've given up. They couldn't keep their gobs shut. That's the sort of mates they were, and that's how funny I found their advances.

Re: Stopped smoking .... so easy !?
It is easy apart from having twats say they think you'll start smoking again, and words to that effect!

Re: Stopped smoking .... so easy !?
^ ... aha ... now I understand. Perhaps not a bad idea then, this getting rid of some mates thing. Unwavering support from my immediate environment has been invaluable in helping me stay the course so far.
Your circle of friends organising a sweepstake on the actual day you'll be lighting up again is perhaps less of a motivational inspiration...
Hang in there, Scorpio. F**k 'Em.
Cheers.

Re: Stopped smoking .... so easy !?
Tomorrow, it'll be 1 month nicotine-free for me. Apart from starting moderate exercise again, I have not changed a single bit of my lifestyle (and, by the way, my wife owns a - at times rather smoky - bar/restaurant...), and my resolve of never wanting to smoke again is becoming stronger by the day. How about my fellow nicotine-quitters on this forum? How is everyone coping?
Kind regards.
Bob

Re: Stopped smoking .... so easy !?
I'm not still going strong, I just simply don't smoke anymore. [And there's no pattern to trap me in that].
I had an urge during beers this weekend. The bit that would have previously made me rush out to buy a pack of cigs was/is absolutely dead.

It's great when you get to that point!
I feel about as much urge to smoke tobacco now as i do to set fire to my flip flops and inhale.

Re: Stopped smoking .... so easy !?
Good on you, Sir! I found this fun (small) bit of software to keep track of my quit. Quite fun, actually. Give it a try.

Re: Stopped smoking .... so easy !?
I smoked for about 20 odd years then just decided to stop. that was 14 years ago, now the smell of smoke makes me wretch, however I did start to drink more and more and more so out with one evil and in with another
I have now decided to cut my alcohol intake to a max of once a week, however it is now 13 days since I had any alcohol not checked yet but I hope I am losing weight, next step to start some exercising and try and get some health back into my body after 30 odd years of abuse
just thought I would share this with you
