Don't know sorry. How about an introduction in the newbie room?

Still smoke free after 48 days barring one evening of weakness over two weeks ago. I was visiting one of my friends who is a chain smoker and after passive smoking for several hours I decided to test my resolve by having one. It tasted foul and affected my breathing noticeably for the next two days. I don't see myself ever going back on the butts.

Re: Stopped smoking .... so easy !?

Well, it's been several months for me and I'm down to only bumming a couple on nights out drinking. I've got to say it's the hardest country on earth to quit in so take it 1 day, or sometimes 1 hour, at a time.

Re: Stopped smoking .... so easy !?

Don't concern yourself over a few moments of weakness while imbibing.

Just don't buy a packet ever again, even that old trick of buying one just for the night and giving the rest away.
Don't do it.

I'm on nearly 4 months now and I've had a few at my mate the chain smokers house. I only see him once a month and last time I only had one and stopped for the rest of the night.

Re: Stopped smoking .... so easy !?

Keep in mind that each cigarette you smoke resets the clock to zero in terms of nicotine addiction and will power to overcome it. It's best to avoid people who smoke until they overcome the habit themselves...and certainly around drink.

That's my approach - I think it would have been much harder for me to give up totally and irreversibly if I'd had the occasional ciggie after a few drinks.

You're either a smoker or you're not.

Re: Stopped smoking .... so easy !?

I just passed the 1-year mark as a non-smoker last week. Damn, I feeeeel goooooooooooood (said in my best James Brown voice...).

I fully agree with the last 2 posters: you are either a smoker or a non-smoker; there are no grey areas whatsoever. The Law of Addiction states the following: "Administration of a drug to an addict will immediately cause reestablishment of chemical dependence upon the addictive substance."

Good luck and strength to all who are quit and especially those of you who are contemplating quitting. Go for it!

Best.

Bob
