Hi does anyone happen to know a decent gym in Victory Monument area in BKK? I'm looking for a place with just basic weight machines and some iron, no disco-type place with all these pilates and aerobics -things.

there used to be a place called rocky gym opposite the asia hotel
looked a proper lifting gym
thai japan center as well at dindeang but might be a bit far out

a cardio gym at soi aree station

all i know in that area

its important to keep your core stable when lifting weights. A good way to test your core is to suck your navel towards your spine.Then exhale and suck it in a bit more. Now feel around the sides of your stomach - should be tight - thats stable, keep it like that during your lifts. Dont hold your breath though. Try and work more with dumbells than with barbells. Obviously some lifts you cant do as "effectively" (read "impressively") with dumbells but a lot of these lifts are done for show. No need to bench heavier than bodyweight for reps if youre using correct form.With a barbell most people bounce and push out with the elbows- leads to instability in the scapular/rotator muscles - when you get that syndrome thats a new kinda pain, believe me! Also no point squatting if you just end up with a big butt and belly. I guarantee that there are only about 4 or 5 exercises in the gym you need to do with weights, the rest is just ego.

Well, I am in my mid 40'ish!! and workout about 5 times a week. People say I look as if I am in my mid 20ish!! Gotto love that!!!! I am a female and I must tell you this though, Thai women in Thailand are really "too skinny".!! I mean, they look as if they have starved themselves for years. I am very proud of my workout routines. I mean, I use very light weight and lots of reps and also I do cardio daily. My measurements are 36-24-36!! I have been working out for over 20 years and it shows. So for those of you that love to workout, keep it up because It will takecare of you when you get older!

Power Zone Din Dang is my choice when I want the total body workout the hotel gym cannot provide
all the equipment, free weights + machines
I pay the daily fee .. because I am a ST tourist
Daily: b200 Monthly: b1200

Power zone is 90% Thai, men & women ..
the body building team is present weekdays about 10AM

I could not post a link to Power Zone directions & map due to low my post count

I have been hitting the gym for over 9 years now (4-5 times/week). Thai people love starring at my bulky body. My only weakness is that I'm unable to talk to all of them, what a shame.
