    Cabbage Soup

Just trying this out as I really need to shed some lard, so out I went and got hold some serious veggies, whacked them in a pot and boiled them up, and made a suprisingly tasty concoction (once properly seasoned with chillie powder and herbs), so much so that my wife immediateku cracked out the rice and started helping herself, but I'm off the carbs so just had it straight and wonder upon wonders I was absolutely stuffed after two large bowls of the stuff. The reason behind it is that it burns more than it gives nutritionally, so my plan is to cane this stuff over the next few days....every time I'm hungry, but you also get theme days. Tomorrow I am allowed as much non-banana fruit as I can stuff, the next day as many raw veggies as I am with a baked potato at the end of it, and there's even one day a week that says you can fill yourself up with steak, but the core of it is that all other snack attacks should be countered with soup.

Not a huge fan of faddy diets, but thought this one could work as well as any and I really am a butter ball right now.....so it's soup and jogging and I see how it's worked in two weeks.

How about the recepie? (sp?) I quite like any soup but usually find myself cooking mexican stuff everytime i bother to clean the pan
Daniel Bedingfield claimed that his new album is what it would sound like if Sting, Stevie Wonder and Micheal Jackson were in a basement together - I haven't got the album so I'll have to imagine the sound of a blind bloke and a Geordie kicking the shit out of a pedophile.

    Re: Cabbage Soup

Taken from Fat Burning Soup Diet

    The Fat Burning Soup Diet

    6 Large green onions
    2 Green peppers
1-2 Cans - diced tomatoes, or 1-28 oz. can of crushed tomatoes
    1 Bunch - Celery
1 Package - Lipton Onion Soup Mix or Chicken Soup Mix
1-2 Cubes of Bouillon, if desired
    1 Head - Cabbage
Salt, Pepper, Parsley, etc. to taste

Cut Vegetables into small to medium pieces and cover with water (V-8 juice can also be used). Boil fast for ten minutes, reduce to simmer and continue cooking until vegetables are tender.

Eat as much as you want.......whenever you want.......any time of the day. This soup will not add calories. The more you eat, the more you will lose.

DAY ONE: All fruits, except bananas. Your first day will consist of all the fruit you want. Cantaloupes and watermelon are lower in calories than most fruit. Eat only your soup and fruit for the first day. For Drinks, unsweetened tea, cranberry juice and water.

DAY TWO: All vegetables. Eat until you are stuffed with all fresh, raw, or cooked vegetables of your choice. Try to eat leafy green vegetables and stay away from dry beans, peas, and corn. Eat all the vegetables you want along with your soup. At Dinner, reward yourself with a big baked potato without butter. Do not eat fruit today.

DAY THREE: Mix Day One & Day Two. All the soup, fruits and vegetables you want. No Baked Potato.

DAY FOUR: Bananas and Skim Milk. Eat as many as eight Bananas and drink as many glasses of skim milk as you would like on this day, along with your soup. Bananas are high in calories and carbohydrates, and so is the milk, but on this particular day of the diet, your body will need potassium and carbohydrates, protein and calcium to lesson your cravings for sweets.

DAY FIVE: Beef and tomatoes. Ten to twenty ounces of beef and up to six fresh tomatoes. Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water today to wash the citric acid from the body. Eat your soup at least once today.

DAY SIX: Beef and vegetables - eat to your heart's content of beef and vegetables this day. You can even have 2 or 3 steaks, if you want - with leafy green vegetables. No Baked Potato. Eat your soup at least once today.

DAY SEVEN: Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juices and vegetables. Again, stuff, stuff, stuff yourself. Be sure to eat your soup at least once today.

At the end of the seventh day, if you have not cheated on this diet, you will have lost 10 to 17 pounds. If you have lost more than 15 pounds, then go off the diet for 2-3 days before you try it again.
The Seven Day eating plan can be used as you like. If correctly followed, it will clean your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well being as never before. After only a few days, you will begin to feel lighter and have an abundance of energy. Continue this plan as long as you wish and feel the difference.
This diet is a fast fat burning diet, and the secret is that you will burn more calories than you take in. It will flush your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well-being. This diet does not lend itself to drinking alcoholic beverages at any time, because of the removal of fat buildup in your system. Go off the diet at least 24 hours, before any intake of alcohol.
Because everyone's digestive system is different, this diet will affect everyone differently. After day three, you will have more energy than when you began, if you do not cheat. If, after being on the diet for several days you find your bowel movements have changed, eat a cup of bran and fiber. Although you can have black coffee with this diet, you may find you won't need the caffeine after the third day.

    DEFINITE NO-NO'S

No Bread, Alcoholic Beverages, Carbonated Beverages (not even diet). Stick with water, unsweetened tea, black coffee and unsweetened fruit juice, cranberry juice and skim milk on the day it is allowed. NO Fried foods.
You may eat broiled or baked chicken, instead of beef (absolutely no skin on the chicken). If you prefer, you can substitute broiled fish for the beef only one of the beef days. You will need the protein in the beef the other day.

The Basic Fat Burning Soup can be eaten at any time you feel hungry during the day, and you can eat as much as you wish, as often as you like. This soup will not add calories. The more you eat, the more you lose.

Any prescribed medications will not hurt you on this diet. Continue this plan as long as you wish, and feel the difference both in mental and physical disposition. This diet is used for overweight heart patients who need to lose weight rapidly, before surgery.

FIBER CEREAL WITH SKIM MILK, small amount any time.

A GREAT SUGGESTION FROM A READER: If you don't care for the milk by itself, she suggested adding the banana with the milk and blend in a blender to make your own shake! Sounds like a great idea!

    Re: Cabbage Soup

I don't think I had the right soup mix as it probably had some potato starch in it but it was so watered down with otter ingredients that I don't think it will make a whole lot of difference. You're definitley welcome to bowl next time you come round Nabs!

    Re: Cabbage Soup

As far as I am aware if you loose more than 2-3 pounds a week you will just put it back on as soon as you go back to a normal diet, it sounds like a crash diet that isn't very healthy for you IMO

If you eat this for a lil while then go back to eating and drinking your usual foods you will put on more weight than what you lost.

    Re: Cabbage Soup

Soups are a dieter's best friend. It is the best way to load up on your veggies.

The cabbage soup diet is well-proven. I prefer less-regimented diet plans that allow me to eat the same types of food each day. I see that your cabbage soup recipe has no tomatoes (tomatoes are replaced with chicken/onion soup base), which makes it low-carb. If you need to reduce carbs, the only acceptable fruits are berries, so that is something to keep in mind. I would add a tomato to the soup recipe, and delete the non-berry fruits, as tomatoes offer more nutrients and vitamins than fruit. You should also take a daily multi-vitamin.

Not to mention that you should be able to shit through the eye of a needle at twenty paces on Day 8. Good luck Louis.

I agree. This is a fad diet, and you will want to binge eat after doing this for a week or more.

Why not just add more fruit, veggies, and grains to your diet. Don't forget to exercise.

Have you ever heard of Macrobiotic diet? I'm looking into it as well.

Ok...incredibly boring...makes my farts go an extremely odd colour, and have committed myself to just one-twos bowls a day at nighttime with a salad. My wifey seems to have all sorts of odd ideas about me simply cutting out the cooked breakies, sandwiches, pies, beer and jogging instead....
