See 'American Psychological Association' site. Has a good overview of various approaches under 'Anger' on the topics list. I've seen most of these used in a court-mandated treatment program. Mixed results-mostly fair to good though.

Might be okay if the friend is a Buddhist with excellent Thai language ability. Quite possible that anger would be more intense in a retreat. In the beginning anyway.
