Thread: Lying Doctors at Param 9 Hospital

I went to the hospital today, have been feeling a bit unwell the last few days. the doctor said I had a viral infection (made sense) and would give me anti biotics. I got home and googled the drug name he gave me, it turns out they are used for motion sickness? It is not the first time something like this has happened there for me, on another occasion I was given pills for epilepsy to help with my muscle twitches. The pills made me really ill so I stopped taking them, then went back. I made it clear on the follow up visit the drugs did not work for me, anyway the doctor gave me some more with a different brand name.

More fool me for being stung twice, but I would advise everyone on here that the docs at this place are fulll of shit, so i'll try somewhere else from now on. i did see one good doc there but have been lied to by 3 others.

viral infection or virus? if there is a secondary infection associated wth a virus then perhaps an antibiotic can be used to treat this.
But the way a virus is defeated by the body is by its own immune system response, producing antibodies - For example herpes is a virus can be detected in the body that you have had it at some point in your life because your blood will show herpes specific antibodies. Chlamydia or syphillis or an ear infection for example will not show up if you had it 20 years ago because it is a bacterial infection which can occur incidentally as an infection - the body does not contain specific antibodies(which are genetically programmed to remember a virus in order to fight it again, assuming the re acquired virus is not a mutated strain) to fight infections.
Bacteria are self contained and can self reproduce. Virus need to occupy a host cell and programme their genetic info by hijacking a host cell. To fight viruses, you either need ant virals or your body wil produce antibodies. Bacterial infections are either warded off by the body or you can create an environment eg by way of antibiotics in which the bacteria can no longer survive.

I'm surprised the doc didn't give you four different colored pills, each without any indication as to what they are. Thais are into rainbow meds, kinda like the colors of each day of the week.

I actually flipped once when a friend of mine came off her bike and grazed her knee, she came back from the clinic with more drugs than Pablo Escobar, i googled some of the stuff and had to ask he if she was pregnant, because one of the drugs was for morning sickness. She wasnt. All she needed was a bit of iodine on her leg. Big pharma only makes it money if people think they need the drugs and who is gonna question their doctor....?!

I never alleged he was incompetent,that allegation was made by other posters - but how many doctors are out there prescribing drugs that people dont really need? For example exercise has been found as being more effective than SSRI's at combatting depression, yet more Prozac and Seroxat is dished out to more and more people on a daily basis and at a younger age.

The whole point of the drugs biz is to "treat" illness - not cure it...you know how much "treating" a cancer patient is worth??? When they relapse they need to be treated again and again. A cured patient is worth nothing to big pharma.

Same with back pain. Recent studes on accupuncture to treat sacro/lumbar disorders show that it is far more effective than painkillers/NSAIDs etc. Backpain , prostate, other chronic disorders etc are to be found in the clinical wastebin of medical knowledge and research. "Just take the pills from Glaxo Smithkline Schering Novartis and shut the f*ck up!"

The fact that they cannot cure the common cold or flu yet shift billions of dollars worth of medication every year which is purposefully described as being a "remedy" for these - not a cure - containing stimulants and analgesics and depressants simultaneiously none of which individually or collectively have ever been clinically proven to work. And what is the point of teh flu vaccine if it mutates every 5 minutes?

Just like the arms industry wouldnt exist without wars, the drugs industry wouldnt exist if they cured every disease. Im not saying they cause disease purposefully, but if you're selling , people will buy. For years more people were dying from AZT treatment side effects than the HIV it was prescribed to treat - this is a drug that was found to be so toxic when treating cancer patients they had to withdraw its use.
Apparently dettol,surgical soap, vitamin c tablets and ear thermometers will prevent you from getting H1N1. They are selling like hotcakes over Asia because of effective Marketing. Many doctors (i am not saying all, because there are some amazing physicians and surgical procedures out there and I have already made a distinction between docs and the drug biz above) are nothing but the end of the marketing chain.
