Just thought I would post up here as I'm at a dead end now and it is really getting frustrating.
I have had heavy legs now for around 4 - 5 months I just have this feeling of heaviness in my legs and now arms constantly it is as if I have just exercised the night before. I went to the doctor several times about it was thrown all kinds of muscle relaxants and painkillers etc and yes that stuff works to an extent but I can't be bothered taking something just to kill the pain I want to know what the problem is. One doctor took x-rays of my back and neck as I was having aches in my back as well and also a general blood test and tested me for artrithis but that all came back fine. He suggested light exercise etc and said it is all in my head but really I just don't understand why I would be having such anxiety to cause this feeling for such a long period of time.
Anyway at this stage it is really getting to me and I think actually it has caused me to become depressed slightly or maybe depression is causing the aching legs I'm not really sure but it is affecting my life that is for sure. I'm going back home in three months time for a holiday and I want to go home feeling fit and healthy not like this.
Anyway I just thought I would put this up to see if anybody else has suffered from the same thing or if anyone has any suggestions that could help me out. At this stage I'm just considering loading myself up with the painkillers again.

i think the best thing for you to do on your upcoming vacation would be to see some western doctors.

I think if were you I'd definitely cut down on the walking until you have a proper diagnosis.
I'd also try to get another medical opinion.
You could be doing damage which you can't know for sure is reversible.

RS I have gone to four doctors now have all dismissed me quite quickly they just don't seem to have a clue what it could be. One doctor suggested MD but the blood test or my physical exam must have ruled it out.
Acupuncture is an interesting idea gonna do some reading on it now.

Doctors were at Mission Hospital.
The Thai chap was an orthopedist his only concern seemed to be to try and throw as many useless stuff at me as he could. Calcium supplements for muscle ache - THANK YOU.
The Indian chap although he seems competent enough seems to be trying to beat some world record time of getting you in and out of the office as quickly as possible.
The American chap is far the most personable out of the bunch and seems a good doctor, he has treated me before. He seemed a bit stumped though and just gave me some Ibuprofen and passed me on to the Thai specialist to rule out MD and try and work it out. If i go back to that hospital I will go to see him and only him from now on.
I also inquired briefly at a local clinic with a Thai doctor who promptly tried to flog me valium.
If anyone has any good suggestions of doctors to try I am more than willing to give them a shot. I have found all of the doctors just can't give me a straight answer. I drink alot of water already Slim Chance although I did think that previously but that doesn't seem to be the answer.
In any case explore all alternatives if its bothering you that much.

really sounds like a blood pressure or vascular thing. My father had similar experience. Stay away from high fatty foods, salt, especially salt. Increase veggies and fruit especially citrus fruit and I also would take a few aspirin a day. Not tylenol aspirin. That will thin your blood a little and should reduce any swelling. Works for arthritis.
Interesting suggestion frankly speaking will try that out it has improved slightly recently don't know if thats because I switched to eating alot of veg at lunch everyday or not.
I will try the few aspirin a day trick and see how I get on.
I don't think its stress as really my life is OK but i do worry a bit about it being atypical depression as I have been finding it hard sometimes in the classroom to be bothered not so much in my weekday job but constantly in my saturday job and also outside of my job I can sometimes just not be bothered to do some things or tell people simple things because it just seems like a pointless task and I just can't be arsed when I feel like this.
Anyway having these heavy legs is awful I consider myself fairly fit I'm only 26 and enjoy sports etc I can't stand feeling like this all the time.
