Am looking for an idea of how much I can expect to pay, and how much I need to haggle.
I just enquired last week; 2,200 baht per month. That was based on a years membership.
He wouldn't move on the price. Simply stated how much better they were than california wow and if I wanted to pay less than the asking price, then I should nip across the road and train on the inferior machines in california.
I took his advice, turned my nose up at his 2,200 baht, and walked.
I now wish I wasn't such a tight ass
Any decent gym in Thailand will cost you 3000 baht and up. Look for the groupon type promos as there are plenty. I am sorry, but where is Fitness First located? Do not go to California Wow if you are serious about working out.
Cool name, Cool avatar, by the way.
I hear Russ is opening a Canadian chapter
The missis and I have just joined a swanky new gym by where I live, and we haggled them down to 36,000 baht for a year's membership (for two of us)
So it's about 1,500 baht a month each. And for that we can join in any of the classes for free as well - dance step, combat, gym ball, yoga, etc. and they run about four classes a day.
We went this morning for our first session and they also gave us a private trainer each for the first three sessions. There's a spa, beauty salon, restaurant - even a saltwater swimming pool (but you have to pay a good bit extra for that)
The worst job in Thailand must be the man who has to sit down with a blue marker pen and mark a number two on the two-baht coins to stop people thinking they are one-baht coins.
