Anything cheap near Ekkamai or Phra Kanong? The cheapest I could find was 10,000 baht for a studio (40 sqm) included swimming pool and fitness. But I'd like to find a gem if possible. Only needs to be within biking distance of skytrain, or a 20ish minute walk I wouldn't mind, either. Thanks for any info!
Nice to see folks sticking with the lingo. Coinage!
That's pretty good, though. Get much lower and you'll lose the pool and the fitness, unless you get off the Rot Fai Fah. Even then, that particular triangulation may not be a dime a dozen. There's always some absolutely ridiculous deal breaker, like the floor is bright purple or there are 13 windows none of which open. Curious where that was, actually. What, Lumpini On Nut?
Not shoebox gems and not on the BTS, but I saw a few places yesterday out Ram.
9500 baht for a 21st (top) floor 54 sq. meter somewhat unique place. Check the art and directional lighting! Class!
here's the view from the windy balcony

Shower. One wall of which is glass and opens into the room. Sexxxayy
Got of of them nam tok style showerheads. or whatever the F they're called
I left thinking that this place is a fucking steal-e-ohhh at 9,500 baht.
if you could bargain down, you'd be the talk of the town. PM for info.
favors and/or greeeeen welcomed for the oh so secret locale...
nearby....
a place called "The Jim's Place". Horrid looking building but we had to see the 45 sq. meters for
under 8,000 baht with THIS fucking pool free for guests!!!!!
I've seen some sorry excuses for pools around BKK. This most certainly is NOT one of them.
notice the figure. small. pool. big!
The room is a bit low, on the 3rd or 4th floor but is on the corner and has two big balconies.
the place is weirdly designed, has ridiculous flooring and is full of funny coo-coo bird type of
older highlighted short haired Thai women and their dogs and husbands.something kinda
cool about this place but it'd be work to turn the room from a slightly disturbing 70's trash space
to a funky artsy hovel hidden in a mysteriously hideous puke and pea green building.
hey, here's another shot from the 9,500 baht penthouse-like studio seen above, with the art
nice couch.
some of the things they call "a couch" in thai apartments...welll...ffs! this one,
this one is a couch. this place is ACTUALLY "furnished".
oops. The Jim's Place isn't pukey green, it's blue. just seeeemed pukey green.
another mess of concrete. really thick. more like a big fucking mass of concrete than any kind of abode. not this place, SO MANY places all over BKK. apartment hunting is mostly just depressing and inspires more "why do i live in a place mostly devoid of a sense of artful spaces" type thinking. concrete fucking slabs and then more and more and more and more and more....those gems truly are hidden by definition...

These names really freak me out.
that pool looked really nice. a few laps after work next to short haired ladies in flourescent bathing suits, paradise.

The pool at "The Jim's Place" look's fantastic. The unfurnished place looks nice and clean as well. I will be in the hunt for a place tomorrow.
I've just moved out of my Shoebox apartment and into a small house. Having the extra space is awesome. Great thing is that the house costs me under 5000 Baht with all the bills included.
