There are literally 1,000's of places to stay in greater Bkk for under 10,000 THB/Mo. in fact if you're just after a cheap and cheerful studio which is clean and tidy with TV, Internet, mini mart, salon, laundry service and so on, you'll have plenty of choices at around 6,000 THB/Mo.

I've not lived in Bkk studios for a good number of years, but there really are some resaonble places to stay within a few minutes walk from the Sky train and MRTA (underground) routes. I'm sure there are folks in here who are currently living in and can recommend such places to you so that you can build a short list before you arrive.

Failing that, probably one of the best websites for budget accommodation is Easy Horpak

I see you are intending to stay three months.

Just bear in mind most places want you to sign up for SIX months, although you may be able to persuade somewhere to take you for three. However, they may up the rent a bit to compensate.

Where you live will depend on what you want to do. If you are just holidaying, like you say, somewhere cliose to the BTS or MRT will do. However, you may be better off living a bit further out especially if you decide to do a bit of part-time teaching whilst here. If so, then I suggest somewhere closer to where you will work.

I can find you a 34m studio in Sathorn (5 mins from Surasak BTS) for 8,500 a month. Modern rooms, balcony, fridge, cooking area, 5 English-language cable channels, Internet access, mini mart and parking. No minimum stay.

No matter what your decision is... Don't stay at Sathorn Saint View!! They're so rude and they leave all the garbage in front of other people's houses. I don't think it's the right thing to treat your neighbors.

Not sure what area u like but i do know ramkhamhaeng a little and used to stay there and yes it's a crowded place but living there is still cheap if yr work isn't to far! Rentprices are between 4000 / 6000 for furnished apartments or condo's with adsl internet and airco and cable tv and security. The places i know are in the soi next to big-c (soi 10) and khlong tan or klong ton (soi 5) Know one place (V place apartments) they don't have a website but the rooms are quite large and some of them (front side of building) have 2 rooms and large balkony and large bathroom and near the main road!

Building opened some months ago and remember 4500 p/m basic rent for a 2 room apartment (bedroom + livingroom) and 2900 for large studio, both with balkony and bathroom (ramkhamhaeng road soi 5)! Apartment building reception telephone number is: 02-3693975-7 or try 0890011195 for english! You pay around 500 baht extra for a room with airco and a few hundred baht for a corner apartment so a 2 room apartment will cost between 4500 and 5500 a month. Wireless internet available but the only downside is that you need to buy your own furniture coz the rooms come empty!

Also Nasa Vegas Hotel at khlong-tan has serviced apartments but the price is a little high for the space u get (3900 and 4900 p/month small studio and no balkony) but the gym is nice with squash and sauna, steambath and in 2009 a brand new airport-link rail or bts! Easy to go to pratunam, sukhumvit & makkasan in no time. Wireless internet or ADSL, UBC and HBO available. Hope it's helpful...website: nasavegashotel.com

Update: Huge new apartmentbuilding ramkhamhaeng khlongtan / khlongton / klongtan (soi 4) finished already! (close to nasa vegas hotel / serviced apartments)
Should check it out if yr in the neighborhood! Not sure if they have 2 room apartments or price bcoz never went inside! All rooms have big sliding doors and balkony, room comes with furniture! Building near the main road of ramkhamhaeng and close to foodland & the Mall same as V.place in soi 5 ramkhamhaeng, also close to new airportlink station ramkhamhaeng!
