Mr Roomfinder - Apartments for all budgets!
Hello everyone.
Firstly, I’d just like to thank Phil and the team at Ajarn for the association between MrRoomfinder and the Ajarn website and forum.
Perhaps I should start by saying that we’re committed to keeping MrRoomfinder a free, updated, and interactive website at all times.
Although the site has ambition to list all property types from the cheapest of the cheap to the most costly penthouses, there is always going to be a focus on the low to mid range properties as it’s an area many people feel is neglected.
Also for consideration, is a plan to build some kind of ‘members rated’ list of properties and tie a search facility into that.
We’ve attempted to cover as many points as possible in the construction of MrRoomfinder, but I am aware that there are probably a number of areas that have been overlooked
We’re committed to updating and improving the site periodically, and most of these changes and amendments will be on the recommendation of the site’s members, so user feedback is essential to the future success of the site.
Obviously it’s not possible to implement every good idea that is made by an individual member but all suggestions will definitely be reviewed for consideration.
Any feedback is greatly welcomed and you can either contact me through the Ajarn forum, MrRoomfinder’s forum, or email me direct.
Don’t forget, in addition to the apartment lists we also have an extensive search facility, articles on housing issues, free ads, and services. We hope you enjoy the site and will come back often.
Thanks for reading
Aitch

A few years back i used Mr Roomfinder and found a place i would never have found otherwise - not even from walking around. But now i'm apartment hunting again and it seems to me that it is almost exclusively adverts from one particular rental agency. A bit of a shame really, perhaps there could be a search options where you can filter out agencies or something. After all i could just contact the agency direct if i wanted to go down that route.

Hi Lebowski, and thanks for your feedback.
Over the 5 years that MRF has been going, it has sucked up around 300,000+ Baht in developers fees and other various costs. But most of all, it has taken me 1000's of man hours to update, maintain, and interact with visitors and members over that period. MRF never did become the automatic project that i planned for
So when EasyHomes asked if they could sponsor the site for priority listings for a nominal fixed fee, you can probably imagine I jumped at the chance, especially because they were run by English speaking Brits, and equally as impressive, they seemed to be the only English speaking real estate agents that would give the time of day to folks looking at properties as low as 10,000 THB/Mo (and even less sometimes).
I've met the MD Neil on numerous occasions and he's a top bloke.
Regarding your post, you do have a a point, and if you're looking for budget accommodation, or just want to cut out certain agents or private landlords, you can simply jump through a few page numbers at the bottom of the search results page until they no longer display.
Personally, I don't know if we have more private landlords or agencies on the site as I don’t get involved with advertisers. It's a free-for-all and there are no limits on how many properties any individual or company can include into their account(s).
But just as all used car salesman are not bad eggs, neither are estate agents, and quite often they can even find you a place cheaper than those being advertised by greedy ambitious landlords. You might want to read this article here: The Real Estate Agency – Bangkok
As always, all criticisms are noted be they positive or negative, and I do try to maintain a simple property site for the benefit of Thailand's home hunters. It's not perfect, and it never will be, but we shall always strive for perfection. Alas, it is never possible to please ALL the people ALL of the time.
Cheers

Cheers for that honest reply Aitch.... i was going to add in my post that I accept i do perhaps something of an irrational unease of not wanting to use an agency. It's funny really, i think nothing of booking hotels through booking agents, believing that I can often get cheaper deals that way. So maybe I should open my mind a bit to the evil that is.. i mean to those hard working estate agents folks! :o)

Hey
Looking for a place in nonthaburi, muang thon thani or chang wattana area. For myself and my partner in the lower price range of 5-10k per month. Do you have anything? xx

I can suggest Muangthongthani. My family owns a condo there. The rents are around 5,000 per month and you're walking distance from The Tennis Academy, and Olympic size swimming pool, Impact Arena, a large evening market and many other amenities.
You would have to go there and go to the offices to see which condos are available, or look at the buildings themselves for the ads in the windows.

Hi Natalie,
Do you know the name of the apartments? Is it Champs Elysee?
Thanks for your help.

I don't think it's called Champs Elysee. We've always just called it Muangthong. You can take a van there from Victory Monument or the Impact bus from the Moh Chit BTS/MRT station. Let me try to find the link for it.
Ok this section of the site for transport talks about the shuttle bus and the vans:

The white buildings in the picture are the condos.
