One Month in Bangkok ~ Looking for Recommendations

    Hi All,

I have posted this on another website, but I am a bit disappointed with the responses. I thought I would try my luck over here. The original can be found here: 1 Month Acommodation in Bangkok .... ... - Thorn Tree travel forum - Lonely Planet

The title says what I am looking for. Let me be a little more specific. I will need transportation to get around the city. Proximity to the Skytrain is somewhat important. I don't need the cheapest place around, but I would like to spend as little as possible. I am shooting for the Sukhuvit Area, but I can extend to most places. These areas include: Silom, Pratunam, Victory Monument. I don't want to be in the depths of those high numbered Sukhumvit Sois either. Those of you who know me will know that I like to go out. I don't want to be bound by the operating hours of the Skytrain.

In the apartment I don't require much. I need a fridge to store food and beer. I need a fan. I need the internet. I require a TV with programming to watch. I will be sorting out a job, so I will be spending a bit of time in the apartment. Close proximity to some form of nightlife is somewhat important.

I have looked at a ton of options. My plan is to get myself to Bangkok and have a look around myself in the areas I know already. However, it doesn't hurt to ask for opinions here. While this list isn't exhaustive, here are a few of the places I have looked at.

Rajah Mansion - Welcome to RAJAH Mansion...

    * Yeah, the pictures look lovely. The 11,000 THB price is ok, but a little high. The added extras will push it up further. I could live with the price to be honest. The location is ... interesting. I would be fine since I would be home most of the time. Proximity to nightlife and food are excellent! However, there are some bad reviews out there regarding getting your deposit back.

The Victory - :: THE VICTORIOUSDESIGN FIT VICTORIOUS INDIVIDUAL. ::

    * Well, this place looks lovely, but they just emailed me back with their room rate. 20,000 baht per month is a bit over the top for my budget. I can afford it, but I would rather not pay such a dear price for the exact same area I used to live for 4,500 baht per month!

Ratchaparop Tower Mansion - Bangkok, apartment, Thailand, hotel, cheap, Sukhumvit, safe, Asoke, Silom, BTS, subway, station

    * I know this place well. I have been there many, many times. I used to live across the street for crying out loud! The advantages are that this place is honest. I don't have to worry about getting ripped off. I know the area like the back of my hand. I know the motorbike drivers. The price at around 6,000 baht is right. However, the place is a bit of a dump. Yes, there is a pool and gym and all of that. It is a far walk to Ratchaparop Road. Walking to the Skytrain is out of the question. I would stay here in a heartbeat if I were able to walk to the Skytrain in a reasonable amount of time.

PR Place - Self-contained one bedroom suite with kitchen for rent in downtown Bangkok city center

    * This is at the top of my list. It fits my requirements. It is situated in Pratunam. The rent is 8,000 baht per month. There are even cooking facilities. It seems nice enough. I know the area pretty well.

So, there are a few of the things I am looking at. I am turning it over to you experienced Ajarn people to show me some more leads. Don't let me down! Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you got it sussed so I don't really think you need too much help, and you certainly know your way around.

    Good luck in your quest!!

If you have lived in Bangkok and obviously know it so well what's the point of your post?

Did you read the post? I never claimed to know Bangkok well. I lived in a lot of places in my life, and it certainly doesn't mean that I know everything about them. In case your reading comprehension abilities are below par, I will spell it out for you again. I am looking for a one month rental. I am looking for recommendations from people who have been in my position. I have listed some options that I have looked into. I am looking for more. Is it that difficult to understand the point of my post?

Nothing to do with you AO! That post just came across as a bit sarcastic for a perfectly reasonable question.

I know that mate, but I did not read it as sarcastic. You have done a hell of a lot of research.

I thought it was a bit rude. Didn't his mom teach him if he did not have something nice/helpful to say, then keep your mouth shut, LOL

I thought you were planning to travel around? BTW, never heard back from my last email, but no worries...

You are very polite and nice, but this is not a board for you to make money from. Why not set up your own website instead of poaching on here?

Looks as if you know Bangkok a lot more than I do, hence my observation. No bad feelings, good luck.

    Hi Losing Touch

Ratchaparop Tower Mansion - Bangkok, apartment, Thailand, hotel, cheap, Sukhumvit, safe, Asoke, Silom, BTS, subway, station

After following the link above the first thing I noticed is they state a min 4 month contract. Not sure if you could negotiate that but it may rule that on out.

I am planning on coming to BKK for about 5 weeks Dec&Jan and am looking for similar arrangements, please update the thread with what you choose and how it goes.

This place seems great, almost too good to be true.....sorry always looking for the catch.

    Thanks
