A guy I know what's to move in a newish apartment or condo in Nonthaburi near the intersection of Sisamon and Tiwanon if possible .
He's nearing retirement and there's a golf course up that way (Chuan Chuen) that he wants to play a lot .
Anyone got any recommendations ?

20 minutes away off Tiwanon Rd is Muang Ake, they have both day and night courses.

I recommend this place..but only if you have a car. It is a ways down soi 15 right on the river. Not far from Tiwanon. Big market near by, major nonthaburi and tops are at the end of the soi.
Actually, right in that area on Si Saman Rd is the newish "Champ Elysee" condo complex. Most are smallish studio rooms but a fair bargain from 3,000-5,000 a month depending on furnishings. Got a nice pool area and there are a few restuarants around as well. 15 minutes from the golf course. The Muang Ake courses are nearby as well, butr Chuan Chuen is a much nicer course for the same price.

Did me three nights a week to save me too much travel back to my wifes appartment at Rangsit (big smoke)
The big problem with Nonthaburi is that unless you're in a private estate area with great security, you have zillions of stray dogs all around. I don't know what it is about Nonthaburi, but it seems to be dog heaven. Actually, it has to do with the number of Isaan street vendors selling food and then feeding the soi dogs late at night.
If you enjoy nonstop barking at night, various attacks on your person by the occasional dog who doesn't recognize you, and other such fun stuff...move to Nonthaburi....
johny do you know nonthaburi is a province? Administrative divisions
The province is subdivided into 6 districts (amphoe). The districts are further subdivided into 52 communes (tambon) and 309 villages.Perhaps where you lived was noisy, but to say a whole province is overun with barking dogs is a bit much.

^Yeah, yeah, but I'm sure this is about those places closest to Bangkok central. For example, along Ngam wong wan, Chaeng Wattana, etc...
Stray Dog central.
My wife sister lives at the corner of Klong Prapha and Ngam wong wan, never heard a dog barking there other than her frigging miniature chihuahaua's. Lets just say some areas have barking dogs which is the same as anywhere in Thailand.Lots of people live out by the river in Pakkret and its very nice indeed.

^Fair enough. Not my experience, and it only takes one new Thai neighbor with like 5 dogs to destroy a neighborhood. All the strays attract to his place to taunt the jailed dogs.
Hate the stray street dogs as well. Been quiet around my house, but obvious the last few nights there is a bitch in heat.
