Thread: Need apartment near BTS with gym? (Wishful thinking?)

Hi, all.
I will be completing a contract in the new couple of months and if things go according to plan, be moving up into a higher pay bracket and thus have a wee bit more to spend on housing. The job will be in the Victory/Phayathai area of town and close to a BTS (!!!).
I would like to find an apartment within a safe walking distance of a BTS, near some good, cheap food and maybe a bar or two, and also a gym. Really just a place with a decent treadmill where I can keep up my racing training during the week and a few weights. Nothing too fancy. (A cheaper place near a gym would also be a consideration.) I have a place now but my location isn't the greatest (a bit far out), it's very small, and I would like to move to a more happenin' part of town. Living far from any sort of excitement gets old when you are in your early 20s. *Yawn.*
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas, a condo you might be wanting to give up, etc. of a place in central BKK (ie: not past Victory and not all the way to On Nut) that might have a treadmill and is around 8-12,000 baht, and is an area of town that has more to do than go to 7-Eleven!
Hopefully this isn't just wishful thinking.

I reside in a 72 SQM condo with big bedroom and enough lounge space to swing a pony for 10,000/Mo. Whoops! Sorry, i'm in Chiang Mai so i guess that a tad past central Bkk

But seriously, you might just want to post a bit more info then you're likely to get a few more responses. I think we get the 'gym' bit now, but how about telling the forum the kind of space you're looking for, i.e. 25 SQM Ok? or perhaps you want a minimum living area of 35+ SQM?

If you're going up to 12,000 THB/Mo, you might be able to get a 1 bed condominium. Don't forget condos are usually billed direct from the grid and that can give you big savings on electricity.

I know Metro Park Sathorn is a popular value for money place right now, but although this complex should have everything you're looking for (not too sure about the gym though), and is within your budget, the down side is that it's probably too far out. That said, i believe its close to the New BTS station.

Anyway, I'm a bit out of touch with a lot of the new constructions in central Bkk, but post a few more details and i'm sure some of the guys here can help. In the mean time, why not have a browse through Matthew's Thai Shoebox Gems on the BTS pinned at the top here. You might be surprised at what you find

Thanks. Size-wise, I currently live in a place that is 32 sqm and a bit larger would be preferable, but I could work with something around the same size if the location was good! A condo would be great, actually. One of my main reasons for posting is I was hoping someone might be leaving a place and looking for someone to take over.
I've done a lot of online research, but I wouldn't mind getting some personal opinions as well.
Living near the new BTS would be nice, but I don't know if it will ever be open !

My "ideal" would be a gym, pool, at least 35 sq m, fridge and microwave, and within 800 m of a BTS. I know most apartment gyms aren't the best, so if it was a place that didn't have one I would like it to be a bit cheaper and close to a gym. I hope I'm not asking for too much. I will be moving in March so I figure I should start poking around now to find a great spot.

Try Phyatai Place Condo, next to Phyathai BTS, they have swimming pool and a small gym. Its a 26 - story pink building on Si Ayuthya intersection. If you are not happy with the gym, there is a fully equipped one just across the road
