    Temporory Housing

    Hi,

I'm coming to Bangkok in mid August to teach and I'm trying to find a good place to post up while I look for a job.

First step is finding somewhere to go straight from the airport. Would you recommend going to a hostel first for a few nights then find a real cheap apartment for a month while hitting the pavement looking for a job, then moving into somewhere permanent?

Is there a particular hostel anyone would recommend that is real close to the BTS or MRT so I can get around easily? Any suggestions on a cheap apartment that offers monthly contracts so I can move out once I find a job? It would ideally be somewhat close to the MRT or BTS, again. It's tough trying to find places online so any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

I stayed monthly at around 12,000 in a large studio at this place in January and February this year.

It is right opposite the newly built Asiatique, so who knows the prices might have gone up a bit. I was quite content these, however Saphan Taksin BTS is about 30mins on foot.

You'll lose your mind before you even find a job. Stay some place decent first.

So this place you're looking for...it needs to have a Japanese restaurant on premises...or would having one close by suffice?

    No wait...that's Tempura...sorry I'm confused...

I suppose you're right. Any leads on a month to month rental near the BTS or MRT for less than 15,000 baht? I know I won't get anything worth a d@mn around inner Sukhumvit, but maybe a bit further out? Would staying out in On Nut or Ratchada for a month be too much of a pain in the butt while looking for a job (as far as getting around)?
