    Advice on apartment finding

    First of all, hi.

As title says, I'm hoping for some advice/suggestions (such as specific Soi or even buildings) on apartment finding. I've been walking around for the past 3 days with little luck (although I think I have to get off to an earlier start as most buildings' offices seem to close by 6ish) in the areas around early Sukhumvit (even numbered Soi up to 26, so didn't get very far), Victory Monument (mainly around Soi Rang Nam, but it was v late in the day) and Phra Ram IX and next 3 or 4 stops. Especially with the latter area I've had real problems actually locating buildings that don't look out of my price range. Absolutely knackered at end of each day with few results.

In fact, the best results I had were when I bumped into an agent in the lobby of a building, who showed me a couple of decent apartments.

    Here're the details:
Want to rent for 9 months
Upper limit of 20,000 baht per month
    Working in Silom
Thought somewhere along MRT would be better than the BTS because I really don't want to have to change at Siam every day
Not adverse to somewhere east of Th Sathorn and south of Rama IV, but haven't checked the area out yet
Really liked the Victory Monument area, but commute would probably be a pain unless I can go east towards the MRT rather than bother with BTS
So basically, somewhere with a similar vibe would be great

I only have a week before I have to leave Bangkok for a month, so don't have much time, especially to perfect the walking around and asking in lobbies method.
Also, I'm cool with flat-sharing, if anyone has a room available (male, 23, full-time job)

Any advice or suggestions would be incredibly useful and massively appreciated.

So basically get in touch with Easy Homes? All the ads seem to be from them (I've checked about 4 pages into a search).

Yes--they're very helpful and, as far as I can tell, they're honest. That price point should be no problem finding a studio near Silom. If you want along the MRT, you can find plenty of nice places at that price a few stops away. Get in touch with them.

20k p/m should see you fine.

Maybe only a studio in Silom or tiny 1br, but along the BTS around perhaps Victory Monument you should be able to get a nice proper apartment.

Yeah, I've been looking on craigslist and there are tons of options. To be honest I don't really like the Silom area (or at least the parts of it I've seen), and like I said in OP I want to avoid commuting using the BTS, despite liking the Victory Monument part of town. Just wanted people to know that I liked the atmosphere there, as I'm sure they'll know of places that are similar in that respect (and of course the more details I provide the easier it is for people to help out).

Pha ram 9 is a good place. For 10,000-14,000 baht a month you can get a decent furnished one bedroom place in A-Space or PG 1 or PG 2 or Lumpini place... all about a 10/15 minute walk to the MRT station.

If you go to the big Ratchada/Pha ram 9 junction then A-Space is west down Asoke DinDaeng, the others are east down pha ram 9.

Also Huay kwang MRT station has a number of places... Try Life or Rhythm which are both very near the MRT station.

As ever with Bangkok, there are smaller cheaper places down the sois...

Walk around the area you want to live in. Go to the buidings that look promising. Nothing beats walking the pavement to find housing. I paid 6000 for a large studio on Sathorn near the derilict highrise off new road. There was another down the alley, newer but no street only motocycle acess for $4000 baht a month. Walk to BTS was only 5 minutes. Easy acess from there to Silom via BTS. Iit was between Saphon Taksin and Surasak Station. Sathorh 24? maybe. Samsung Corp had a phone store and shopping center for Koreans behind it. But hey if you want to pay 20k up to you.
