I am moving to Bangkok from southern Thailand with two cats that I don't want to give away. I understand that most apartments and condos officially don't allow pets, but have any of you had experience with sneaking in a quiet cat or two? I haven't gone to see any potential places in person yet--could I hope for landlords who will allow cats?
you'll have to look around. most condos don't officially allow cats, but many of those with "no cats" signs willl look the other way. some, such as Ma Maison in Town-in-Town, explicitly allow cats and we got one of the security guys to feed the Fat Thing when we lived there. .
now we rent a house. very few, if any, Thai house owners have a pets policy. if you're not right on Sukumvit (and if you're teachering there's a good chance you're not) then it's fairly straightforward to find a house for rent. if neither of you speak/read Thai, get someone from work to walk around the neighborhood with you, look for those little signs on lightposts and ask security guys at moobans.
Imodium can't stop me.
