"vast and black. the thing that was poised, like a crow over the moon. round and smooth. cannon balls. things that have fallen from the sky to this earth. our slippery brains. things like cannon balls have fallen, in storms, upon this earth. like cannon balls are things that, in storms, have fallen to this earth. showers of blood. showers of blood. showers of blood. Are you a Royalist at all? Would you prefer a presidential system?
I'm in favour of retaining the monarchy - just shut down the house of lords and make the monarch like, say, queen beatrice of the netherlands.
ie wheel her out to smile for big occasions and slash the budgets.
Let's cut out all that 'Her Majesty has kindly agreed to the dissolution of parliament' crap.
Billions of pounds and thousands of hours are wasted on just being 'quaint'.
As for how to reform parliament - honestly haven't a clue. It's certainly not to be done by voting for any of those three till dippers.
I think that might be a decent start.
But tourists are money.
Imagine having someone like GWB as chief representative of your country overseas?
Worse than insufferable.
Are you voting SNP? I reckon I'd go with them if I was a scot.
can any of you fellas explain to an uneducated chap what difference that would've made...or would in the future? ta.
A president has much more individual power than a prime minister. A good example of a big difference in the recent past, would be the Iraq war fiasco. Blair would've just gone ahead and invaded Iraq... oh wait.
By midweek we should get a better ideas if this sudden support for the LD's seems to be holding.so with the “Lib Dem breakthrough” dominating the media and the election narrative. It’s quite hard to guess what is going to happen next – on one hand the Lib Dems are likely to face a concerted attack from the other parties and hostile newspapers, on the other hand if they stay at this level there will be a snowballing effect of them being seen to be on a roll, the Lib Dem’s normal weaknesses of being seen as a wasted vote will be whittled away, and if the two main parties start focusing their fire upon the Lib Dems it may well backfire by making them seem negative and the Lib Dems as the real challenger.
I guess we can't overestimate the bad mood of the electorate at this point in time.
LD's should be taking serious fire in the days to come.
We don't smoke marijuana at Muskogee
I'm guessing they already have the dirt on Clegg but we won't see it until such time as the LD's won't have time to recover.
Maybe not Clegg himself, but certainly one of the LD luminaries.
no politican can afford to be seen as mean right now...they know it'll turn people off. they have so much work to do to try and get back people's trust and goodwill that they know they can't appear angry and spiteful.
