of course, it's really easy to impress when you know full well you're never gonna have to put anything you say into practise.

The system in the UK is a complete joke, it needs reformed ASAP.

Then by the time people actually get to the polling booth they've generally decided 'I want labour' or 'I don't want the tories and the only way to stop them is to vote labour', or vice versa.
    Yep...

I reckon Anarchy is the best option.

Are you a Royalist at all? Would you prefer a presidential system?

I'm in favour of retaining the monarchy - just shut down the house of lords and make the monarch like, say, queen beatrice of the netherlands.

ie wheel her out to smile for big occasions and slash the budgets.

Let's cut out all that 'Her Majesty has kindly agreed to the dissolution of parliament' crap.

Billions of pounds and thousands of hours are wasted on just being 'quaint'.

As for how to reform parliament - honestly haven't a clue. It's certainly not to be done by voting for any of those three till dippers.

I think that might be a decent start.

    But tourists are money.

Agree with you on all that. I'd previously been in favour of a presidential system similar to Americas... but that's just , if not more, fucked up that ours.

Can you imagine any one of the goons we've had over the last 30 years as a president rather than a pm?

    Insufferable.

Imagine having someone like GWB as chief representative of your country overseas?

    Worse than insufferable.

Are you voting SNP? I reckon I'd go with them if I was a scot.

A president has much more individual power than a prime minister. A good example of a big difference in the recent past, would be the Iraq war fiasco. Blair would've just gone ahead and invaded Iraq... oh wait.

so with the “Lib Dem breakthrough” dominating the media and the election narrative. It’s quite hard to guess what is going to happen next – on one hand the Lib Dems are likely to face a concerted attack from the other parties and hostile newspapers, on the other hand if they stay at this level there will be a snowballing effect of them being seen to be on a roll, the Lib Dem’s normal weaknesses of being seen as a wasted vote will be whittled away, and if the two main parties start focusing their fire upon the Lib Dems it may well backfire by making them seem negative and the Lib Dems as the real challenger.
By midweek we should get a better ideas if this sudden support for the LD's seems to be holding.

I guess we can't overestimate the bad mood of the electorate at this point in time.

LD's should be taking serious fire in the days to come.

    ---Update---

David Cameron goes on the offensive against the surge in Lib Dem popularity by warning in the Guardian that a vote for Nick Clegg risks the country being "stuck" with Gordon Brown in No 10.
I think this is the main argument he has to run with.
When being run out of town, get in front of the crowd and make it appear like a parade.

I'm guessing they already have the dirt on Clegg but we won't see it until such time as the LD's won't have time to recover.

Maybe not Clegg himself, but certainly one of the LD luminaries.

no politican can afford to be seen as mean right now...they know it'll turn people off. they have so much work to do to try and get back people's trust and goodwill that they know they can't appear angry and spiteful.
