still problems with the nuke reactor:
BBC News - Japan earthquake
2131: Japan's Prime Minister Naoto Kan has just announced that residents living within 10km (6.2 miles) of the Fukushima-Daiichi nuclear station must evacuate their homes, according to the Kyodo news agency. Engineers are trying to fix the cooling system of one of the plant's reactors, which was damaged by the earthquake. The authorities had earlier told some 3,000 residents living within 3km (1.9 miles) to leave.
2132: The Tokyo Electric Power Company has said radiation may already have been released at the Fukushima-Daiichi nuclear plant.
2149: The Kyodo news agency is now citing a safety panel as saying that the radiation level inside one of the reactors at the Fukushima-Daiichi nuclear plant is 1,000 times higher than normal.
2153: The pressure inside one of the six Boiling Water Reactors (BWRs) at the Fukushima-Daiichi plant has built up because the cooling system was damaged by the earthquake. The heat produced by the nuclear reaction inside the core still needs to be dissipated even after a shutdown. If the outage in the cooling system persists, eventually radiation could leak out into the environment, and, in the worst case, could cause a reactor meltdown, experts say.

Yeah but BKK isn't in an area of great earthquake activity compared to Japan. The Japanese have invested a lot of resources to alleviate the amount of deaths and damage caused by earthquakes. It seems to have paid off - just about anywhere else in the world it would be flat cities and 6/7 figure casualties.
The nuclear power stations are a bit of a worry tho'
It started out with the Govt assuring everyone there were no problems, then a bit of a problem, then evacuation, then....???!!!! A bit like 3 mile, chernobyl - who knows how bad it reallly is. But then there's probably not a lot to be gained by broadcasting "RUN FOR YOUR LIVES"
...SD escaped being stranded in Japan by a very few hours: Haneda and Narita both closed shortly after his plane took off...

My wife was just telling me that next weekend the moon will be closer to the earth. She said that scientists are warning that this might cause more natural disasters. They (the scientists) made references to past disasters when the moon was closer to earth. Not sure if there is any validity to these claims. I'll have to check it out when I have time later today.
Speaking of menstruation.....what day is this?
