I came across a video stating the moon proximity on March 19th on youtube...the vid was attempting to link dates of moon proximity with natural disasters...apparently every 20 years or so the moon gets it's closest to the earth and on March 19th it will be at it's closest in the last 19years.

I think the only effect the moons proximity might have is on the tides...I don't believe any correlation between moon proximity and natural disasters...

one of the news reports said that the christchurch earthquake was really tiny in comparison, and that there is a quake of that size every few hours somewhere in the world. Just this one was right on a major city

i've never thought about it, but it is possible. A huge pull from the moon's gravity could have an impact on the plates. It would only need to shift things slightly for there to be a conceivable knock on effect.

I wonder how accurate this is....

    NEW YORK | Fri Mar 11, 2011

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Japanese officials may only have hours to cool reactors that have been disabled by Friday's massive earthquake and tsunami or face a nuclear meltdown.

Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) (9501.T) is racing to cool down the reactor core after a highly unusual "station blackout" -- the total loss of power necessary to keep water circulating through the plant to prevent overheating.

Old news. In two more days this one will be too. I noticed on the yahoo home page there's a link to donate $ to Japan. Now doesn't that seem odd? Japan in a state of charity.

Sorry that our small quake doesn't satisfy the jaded news consumers around the world. Japan will have to do until the next Charlie Sheen outrage.

After watching the floods, cyclones and earthquakes in Aus and NZ, you sorta get the feeling that the media outlets are almost gleeful when they happen.....is it just a matter time when we'll have one of the big junk companies trademarking/ sponsoring a disaster - "2015 Los Angeles Quake proudly brought to you by McDonalds".
