We could all sit outside on banana lounges discussing the best way to rebuild a 4WD transmission and agree, through shared stories of conquests supporting our assertions, that there is no basis to the proposition that those least assured of their persuasions are the first to condemn others for theirs.
Tsunami devastates Japanese city
AEST 08:20, Sat Mar 12 2011
One of the regions hardest hit by Japan's massive 10m tsunami was Miyagi in the country's north-east.
The waves wiped out entire villages in Natori, one of 13 cities in Miyagi, caused landslides and sparked dozens of fires in the debris swirling around in the water.
Fire also broke out at the Onagawa nuclear plant.
One train derailed and another is also missing in the region, which has a population estimated at more than two million people.

the pics and footage coming out of Japan have been astounding - just as the ones posted above are.
Police are now talking about upwards of 10,000 dead in Miyagi alone.
Japan on high nuclear alert - Asia-Pacific - Al Jazeera EnglishAl Jazeera: It is the first time Japan had confronted the threat of a significant spread of radiation since the greatest nightmare in its history, a catastrophe exponentially worse: the 1945 atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the United States, which resulted in more than 200,000 deaths from the explosions, fallout and radiation sickness.
Wow...this is becoming worse than I originally thought...I can't see the death toll staying below 10's of thousands based on the pics and video I've seen...as MR said above half of the pop of Miyagi are unaccounted for and it's the same for about 3 or 4 other prefectures.
Some of the before and after shots of towns in Iwate prefecture are just unbelievable...
They are saying this quake shifted the island of Honshu by 8 feet, shifted the planets axis, and although by a minuscule amount, affected the earths rotation...this is like nothing anyone has experienced before.
It's also difficult to imagine that the gov is telling the whole truth as to the state of the Fukushima reactor...they've explained away the explosion seen on video but would they really tell the truth if it's the worse case scenario? I mean they have enough to deal with without a full scale panic.
Either way...Japan is in a right mess and I wish them all the best in getting through this catastrophe.

Even Tokyo, which I thought had just got a bit of a shake, had people sleeping on the streets because all the trains were shut down and people just couldn't get home. A friend told me it was bloody cold.

How many search and rescue crews are coming in from the US, Canada, UK, Australia, etc...???
How far would the radiation spread if both reactors go? Is there any danger of a thermal nuclear explosion?

the colours are so pretty
So pretty..and they have a sound. Each colour has a sound. Why have I never seen this before...? (etc...etc.. eats chocolate biscuits from secret stash and puts kettle on. Checks fridge. Milk. Good. Returns to living room with crap biscuits and an acute sense of paranoia)
Some on the footage is unbelieveable.
This is it... The apocalypse.
