An Open Letter to James Hooker’s Wife

Hi,

I might not know exactly how you are feeling, but I have a good idea.

At one time I had a 41-year-old husband who was sleeping with his 18-year-old student. In the beginning, I was devastated, full of grief and anger. And so were my two children.

Then I discovered he had started his ‘affair’ when the student was fourteen years old. It’s difficult to define molestation as an affair when the other party isn’t old enough to drive.

Slowly the facts and truth were uncovered. There were at least a dozen underage girls, the youngest was eleven. All of them had been my husband’s students.

You may or may not know it, but James Hooker is a ‘groomer’ pedophile. When I discovered I had married a groomer, I hid. And cried. And I was overflowing with horror, embarrassment, fear, and profound shame.

Don’t go that route. A groomer grooms the adults first. They spend decades perfecting their technique. He spent years making sure you would be blind to his deviant behavior. Keep in mind he did the same to his employer, his friends and associates, and finally his victims.

Yes, I can guarantee this latest victim is not his first, nor will she be his last.

Tell me if this sounds familiar:

* He lies. Not just about his sexual behavior, but about everything, big or small even if he is sure to get caught, and without thought to consequence. He lies so boldly you’ll almost start to believe him despite all evidence to the contrary.

* Any activity (club, school trip, tutoring) that gives him children unsupervised he’ll volunteer for immediately, even if it takes time away from his family.

* He is always quick to help other parents… not you of course, He likes to have you overwhelmed.

* He is a control freak and probably is at least slightly OCD.

* Now that he has abandoned his own children he’ll demand to communicate with them in a way that cannot be monitored. They are his property after all.

* Odds are he has few friends (if any) his own age. Does he socialize with any adults, or only teens?

* Has he been working hard to look/be younger? Shorter hair and shaved facial hair to hide gray? Listening to music he never listened to or liked before? Dieting in bazar ways?

* Does he like tickling, hugging, touching, patting, and messaging his students?Does he encourage them to do the same? And does he always make sure to touch in front of others? (<–grooming)

It’s hard to stop listing all the specifics. I don’t want to be long (longer) winded… I just want to offer you moral support and to tell you you’re not alone.
