I'm over for hol's in March and am seriously considering Angkor Wat...there's enough seeing to be done to cover how many days would you say? an approximate is enough...help my planning.
THe faces of Bayon are my favorite. Spend one day and Angor Wat and Bayon and Angor Thom. One on more outlieing northern temples and one day on the Rolos Group. 3 day pass is $40 make sure you bring id card size photo (or slightly larger) can avoid a very long line. I also enjoyed the boat to Battambang. I came back through Poipet which was interesting. I can recommend Buntheun as a good moto driver. He was with the Teo Hotel in Battambang (only about $10 a night and immaculate). Battambang was a blast on the bamboo train. Overland I made it from Pattaya to Siamreap leaving at 7 am and arrived at about 6pm. From Battambang I left at about 8am and was in Pattaya by 5:30pm. I took taxis all the way. I ate at a place in Battambang called White Rose. In Siam Reap I stayed in the Banana Guest House (about $28). The Remoto was about $13 daily, the quide was $20 a day (I had him 2 days) the moto driver in Battambang was about $7 a day. He works at an orphanage there for a dollar a day but they let him off to work as a guide. He also works at an infant HIV orphanage so you can get some real interesting insights in Kamer life. Have a great trip.

2 days is enough for me. you can get a one-day, three-day or week pass. one day is not enough and one week is temple overkill so the 3 days is fine. you can do one full day and then go in for the morning and evening....a lot nicer.

Great pics, zehner. It is truly awe inspiring to see how enormous the structures are. I'll be heading there in a few months.
Any recommedations on places to stay in Siem Riep? Would you recommend taking a motosai around, or hiring a tuk tuk driver for two or three days? I can imagine how hot it would be walking around, especially in hot season.

Two Dragons is a lovely spot. owned by Gordon Sharpless...admin of taleofasia.com
tuk-tuk is better for the temples imo. got more shade and more comfy

I stayed at the King guesthouse in Siem Reap. It wasn't fabulous, but it was only $6 a night and had all the amenities I needed.
The three-day pass is the best, I think. I really liked the atmosphere at the temples... tourists aside... and three days gives you lots of time to see everything and linger at some temples if you want.
the balloon rides are about $10 for 10 minutes i think
Maybe a tad more? $15 comes to mind. Been there done that. A couple of pics.
And another one of the ground from the ballon:
And one of Angkor Wat from the balloon:
