Kanchanaburi Part 1 (Hellfire Pass to the Three Pagodas Pass)

We just did a 5 day trip by car to the two lakes in Kanchanaburi province. We started with driving from the Hellfire Pass to the Three Pagodas Pass.

I hope you'll enjoy the pictures.

Yep - I've do the Kan to Sanklaburi trip on motorcycle. Very lovely indeed.

Also if you go to the other lake and then on to Si Sawat and follow it til the road ends you then go up a dirt road (the red road on the map), over a mountain pass, and then on to Nong Prue - that is extraordinaraily nice. I'm not sure I'd try it in a car, but motorcycle of 4x4 would be ok I think.

Hamster, I'm sorry to disappoint you. We went to Si Sawat around the lake (a 35 km steep and curvy road) and went back by ferry (4 km). We didn't go farther (the red dirt road) because we had our resort 30 km south of Si Sawat (using the ferry to make the crossing).

Re: Kanchanaburi Part 1 (Hellfire Pass to the Three Pagodas Pass)

That's okay - I'm not sure if your car would have made it up that dirt road anyway. I doubt my D-Max could do it either as it really is 4x4 territory. When we went we were on a Kawasaki Boss which worked pretty well, but the road was a bit hard on the bike for sure. LOL - it was a rental anyway.

That little ferry is charming though - beautiful views. A few interesting resorts in that area. Very isolated and quiet.

I will probably do that road soon. I will give you a call and we can go together. I have a D-Max too but a 3.0 L VGS 4WD 4D MT.

Kanchanaburi Part 2 (Si Sawat)

The second part of our car holiday went to Si Sawat. I hope you'll enjoy the pictures.

We stayed for two nights at the Great Lake Resort in Amphur Si Sawat. View from the restaurant:

The boat we slept in. Two rooms in one boat. The water there is about 15 metres deep. Everywere are signs: "Careful; Deep Water".

View to the other side of the resort:

Our drive by road to Si Sawat. At a certain junction you can choose to go to Si Sawat by road (35 km) or by ferry (4 km). The road is good but steep and curvy.
