I thought I had posted these earlier but hadn't so here are some pictures from 2 trips. One in Dec of 2007 and the other was this past March. Catholic Church.
The river runs through downtown.
Child was swimming in the river. He looks cold. Must have been about 29C. LOL
Gem Market.
Lake North of Jantaburi some 35K. Chinese Temple in town. Commons area outside bungalow. The Bungalows. It ain't Pattaya!
This was the beach the day on April 12 or 13.
The beach is Chaowelao just below Laem Sadet.
If you don't bring it, you probably won't find it here.
Wat Khao Sukim. I teaching monastery. Lots of monks. A cable car takes you from the parking area to the top.
Or you can climb up the 300 or so stairs. Good views. Inside a museum.
I walked down. Not up.
Then back to the beach at Klung Wiman. (SP)
For lunch.
Doesn't get any better than this.
Stayed at Muang Chan Hotel in the Gem Market. About 300 Baht a night. (Fan Room).
Stayed at Sabai Resort south west of town about 550 baht a night. Can be recommended but only signposted in Thai. Off the (Need a car or cycle.)
Stayed at the Resort at Chowelowe. (Wanted something like 2500, but negotiated down to 1000).

Nice. Weren't you heading back again sometime soon?
Just got back about 3 weeks ago. Spent a week. Still waiting for you to PM me the name and directions for the rustic hotel on a creek.
Take care!
From where I live. This area is about the nicest and closest. I wouldn't touch the Gulf of Thailand above Ko Samet. Nice in Jantaburi.
Inside the Church of the Immaculate Conception. (As I recall.)

Great pics, by the way. Chantaburi is on the short list of (longer term) BKK escapes one day for sure.
No Problem. Just took a cheap shot.
But since I do get over there a few times a year. Do send it sometime. I even promise not to tell Lonely Planet, which thankfully doesn't have a high opinion of the place except as an emergency stop over on the way to the Cambo border via Trat and Had Lek.
(Where I have also spent a few days. But that is another story.)
I went there to look at the EP programs. Not bad. The pay was 30k in each. Nice well behaved kids. Good staff. Lots of cheap fruit and vegetables. A Robinson' s department store.
Houses with a few bedrooms in the burbs for about 5-6k. Seemed like an OK life especially if you what to be closer to nature.
One real ass kicking club across from the lake and it rocked.
