For the first time all the scooter groups from all over Thailand got the opportunity to meet in the same place for a well organised event. 2000 tickets sold, 1500 classic scooters, over 50 groups from places as far as Chaing Rai met in Saraburi on November the 1st and 2nd.
I traveled from Bangkok with the group I belong to called Vespa Carbo.
A few pictures of the wife and i before we set off at 6:30 in the morning. Me with my guard dog.
Most of my group met in Sutisan to ride to the main meeting point for Bangkok groups at a petrol station in Rangsit.
A few pictures in Sutisan and the ride to Rangsit.
The meeting point in Rangsit, as you can see there are plenty of scooters of all types and a lot of BKK riders.
Me talking to a friend called Pat, the owner of Saigon Scooters who came here just for the meeting.
Pat was honored to open to official run.
A few open road shots on the way to Saraburi.
A pit stop was needed about half way, time for food and the first beers of the day.
Back on the open road on the way to the camp. The Bangkok riders met with other groups on the way.
Arriving at the camp.
A traditional Mod group, from where i don't know.
My group's camp set up.
One of the strangest Lambrettas I've seen, Thais' have the skills when it comes to mechanical engineering.
The nights entertainment.
and the crowd.
Early morning the next day, a few people with hangovers, not me though because i was with the wife, ha ha.
A very rare Vaga, the only one I've seen in Thailand.
I don't know what model lam this is but I know it's old, original and classic.
A custom lam, nice paint job.
All of Vespa Carbo, about 50 or sixty scooters.
A nice side car but I wouldn't like to ride in it here, it's got "under the wheels of a truck" written all over it.
Setting off for the next port of call, a very poor run down rural school, all profit from the event was given to the school. They didn't even have a computer in admin.
All the scooters parked at the school.
My mate Remi who won the "Best Vespa" with his mark 2 G.S.
It was an Excellent event and a very friendly environment, It was pretty inexpensive and plans are well underway for next year, location is yet to be confirmed (I hope it's not too far, i once went to Ko Samui by vespa, i couldn't walk for a week!).
Should any Ajarns own scooters and wish to go to the next meeting you'd be more than welcome to ride with my group. Should anyone wish to attend who doesn't own a scooter something can be arranged. P.M me if you want details.
Hope you enjoy the pictures and story. It's all for a good cause.
