I did Cm to Pai and back on a wave...just for the hell of it...it actually wasn't that bad...the smaller scoot could carry more sapeed in the turns...did it with 2 other falang as a joke...but we ended up enjoying it...
---Update---
it's the "road of a thousand curves"...a car is a waste...we're leaving the car home and taking the train up to CM... we'll use the saved gas money for bike rental...

Great report and pictures, samsara.
We did it in November 2009 by car. Also visited the great sunflower fields in Mae Sariang. However, we drove even farther than that. We drove to Mae Sot along the border with Myanmar. Unforgettable trip and luckily not car sick or any other problems. Driving it by car is not for the faint-hearted. GPS is recommended. Mae Hong Song - Mae Sot is about 400 km and takes at least 8 hours.
nice pics n brings memories of my trip (not so long ago) up in that north area n that AWSOME lovely temple in Mae Hong Son! wish i got to do it 10 or more years ago thou
