Just ask them why foreigners are there teaching them English if Korea is so great.

I took that line here in Thailand when the Matahayom kids at the nazi school were blabbing on about "Thailand number 1" and "Thailand never colony". Excuse me Pear, how many Thais work abroad teaching people Thai language?...3? O? Right, zip it."

Are you serious. That sounds very overboard. I wouldn't think that was even legal to have everyone take a piss sample. One thing I can say is taking drugs of any kind is not tolerated in Korea. I can see why they didn't have the Koreans take the sample though - Koreans would never do such a thing, didn't you know.

I think foreigners have more of a bad name when it comes to drugs. I knew of a public school teacher that used to have pot delivered to him in the mail. He was finally found out, and booted out of Korea in a hurry. He also spent some time in a Korean jail.

I know 3! Teaching Thai at SOAS

plus another at the Thai temple in Wimbledon. So that's 4 in total.

Not a huge number to be sure and there is actually one westerner teaching Thai at SOAS as well.

If you have problems from that point let the embassy handle it.

And institute mandatory kimchi breath smelly tests on a weekly basis for Koreans living in the west.

It is better not to tell anyone to get fucked, especially the police because it might be bad for your over all health.

"Get fucked" being, of course, just a figure of speech. Maybe tone it down and just say "get lost".

Anyway, this may have been mentioned already, but when I was in korea about four years back the coppers raided a bar (farang of course) over in Itaewon. They then informed all the foreiners present that they could either take a blood test or be escorted to the airport. Several, as it turned out, took the escort service.
I must say that in that incident though, all the farangs and Koreans present were required to test.

Alot of the Korean cops are just kids,...serving out their military service. I've had a few run-ins with them and nary had a problem.

Give me the Isaan dirt-farmers any day then, at least they've got some class. Sleazy farang straight off plane from Pattaya to pretty waitress/barmaid earning 3000B per month: "You go Pattaya?"

I used to do similar with Chinese counterparts letting them think I was getting drunk on their firewater ..

(sly H20 substition )I would go over the top even having them crying in hysterics at me throwing fire crackers at them in clubs and pubs.

Like many of the conformist societies, in masses they are terribly unaccepting of foreigners. As individuals they don't seem to be as bad.

I think Jimbo is right, the younger generations seem to be mellower - but that seems to be a metropolitan thing. I live and teach in the sticks and my students show an amazingly closed mindset at times.

Yea, all about where you are "stationed." As I've pointed out on other threads, in my burb the Koreans are VERY well travelled, be it for work, edu. or hols....it makes a huge difference.

50% of my current students are studying with a permanent move planned or in mind. Another 20% are studying Eng. here for uni. / grad school in the near future.

Ask anyone of them what they think is wrong with Korea. The hour won't be long enough for them to complete the list!!
