Good VS. Evil Recruiters?
I still remain indecisive whether or not to dive into Korea mostly due to financial reasons. I may hold out a few more months (possibly 3) to save a bit more funds. Nevertheless, I'd like to know (others who are thinking of taking the dive too) which recruiters (names would be helpful) are good and which are evil.
I posted my resume on Dave's and all I receive are inquiries from recruiters in Korea, hence the thread.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Good VS. Evil Recruiters?
I'd say ALL recruiters have some level of evilness, but I'm sure some are better than others.
Like Part II and III movies, I've sworn off of them.

Re: Good VS. Evil Recruiters?
Yeah, gotta agree with Jimbo, don't do the recruiter thing if you want a place at a hogwan. Go direct to the place. Keep advertising on Dave's and u will eventually pick up a direct line to a school. Don't trust any recruiter, they are mostly fly-by-night tricksters who won't tell you the truth.

Re: Good VS. Evil Recruiters?
The recruiting biz in Korea, on the other hand has always been a little intriguing to me.....
I could be the very first honest one.

Word. I have first hand experience with one in LOS. She was okay, but a bit conniving. I could only imagine how Korea is, since it is a bigger, more established market.
I just got to do my homework. Jimbo, since you been there so long, I was hoping you had a few good ones in mind? I would prefer to be in the Daegu or Busan area.

Re: Good VS. Evil Recruiters?
Ironically I JUST got off the phone with jamaal's recruiter in LA. He sounded like a real solid guy, tho I can't vouch for the company.

Re: Good VS. Evil Recruiters?
Traveler, get in touch with Stretch. He's got a recruiter/agent. He is quite happy with her service.
Just for the record: Are they enforcing the interview with the Korean Embassy, rule, in your home country, now?

Re: Good VS. Evil Recruiters?
^no, there is a way around it - you need to get your degree verified in Korea by sending it to your potential employer. They will verify it with the government (university degree awarding body) and you can then be issued with a 'special' visa number to your embassy of choice. The logic of them NOT verifying your degree if you are in your home country but verifying it if you are in another country really does escape me, but there again the crass stupidity of the new regulations governing issuing E-2 visas still have me shaking my head. Why on earth would they have to verify a degree (over and above the sealed transcripts that they require) if you are in a different country when you don't need that verification if you are in your home country really is a strike for the kimchee munching, soju drinking bureaucrats who thought up the bollocks in the first place. Idiots.

Thanks Tommy, I have corresponded with his recruiter already. I am still waiting for her response to my last inquiry.
What Goo Stewart mentioned is a new one on me. i will have to look into it.
Thanks people!
