Well after 4.5 years on Blighty, I am pleased to say I have a release date of 23rd November; then back to good ol' LOS just before the winter sets in!
Been pretty tough at times, and I never thought we would stay so long. Worth it though and we are now in a much better position to make a better life in Thailand.
Paid off about £3K in debts
Also saved up about £10K in the last two years
Finished off my degree
Gained UK teaching experience and a PTLLS certificate for teaching adults
Wifey has got to know my family, friends, culture and Northern English dialect!
She now also has a British passport, driving licence and quals in Food Production, Literacy and Numeracy
Good luck to anyone doing the same. First couple of years take some adjusting but the benefits of time in the UK can set you up for a longer stint in LOS in the future.
Eventually I will have to return to do my PGCE but right now I am looking forward to bypassing the UK winter. Happy days!
Right on, bro. Nice job.![]()
I always thought you were an old fooker?
30 now. I suppose I am. Ha ha!
Good on yer...
In a similar boat to you mate. I am back here in Aus almost finished a degree. I brought the wife and our son back here as well. Its been a long road and at times I felt like chucking in the towel. My release date is Feb 18 2013. I lived over there for quite a while and its now in my blood, theres no turning back. I just wanted, like you to try and make my situation better for all the family. Not having a degree just followed me round like a bad smell.....very happy to be nearly finished the f**ker!
Good luck to you. Its not easy making such a big move, especially packing the family up as well. My wife now speaks English well and has also got to know my family. My son has forgotten a lot of Thai but it will all come back and now his English is fantastic. The ups and downs will all be worth it.
Cheers to all
Six months will fly by. Only seems like five minutes ago I was packing all my stuff into a tuk-tuk and heading for CM airport!
Bravo wildbill... takes a lot to get that shit together.
This is it... The apocalypse.
love hearing this kind of story. just lovely, good for you.
Nice one wildbill, hope it all works out for you when you get back there. Hoping to achieve the same result in the next year or so, 5 years in here in Blighty, more than enough!
