Gets you the certs.

Then annual increases in pay and you are at the 70-80 k range in basic salary in 10 years or so. Night school is another $45 an hour. Saturday school is another $62 (or more an hour). Summer school is also an additional amount.

There are similar programs in NYC and LA.

I only lived in China for 4 months. When I came back to Thailand I felt like a baby who'd just gotten out of the dentist's office and back into my mother's arms. Some people like it.

I don't think there's any kind of media conspiracy directed at China. They deserve a lot more scrutiny. From time to time I think I'd like to to work there for a year or so. But I've got this gut feeling it's not a place I'd do well in.

Sometimes we see a picture for a few seconds and it's instantly unforgettable. For me, one of these is the picture smuggled out of a Chinese prison of a middle-aged Tibetan monk in thumbcuffs. I've no idea for how long. Barbaric regardless of how long. Imagine each thumb firmly cuffed joined together by a short chain of 5 or 6 inches. Hard to imagine how the recently arrested Tibetans are faring while the Chinese government attempts to to keep the focus on the Olympics.

I might give China a go in a few years time if I can find a town that's not too polluted.

Thailand's alright but I can't find much to respect about the culture, and that gets me down. Will have to read some China EFL sites and see what schooling, health care etc are like there.

Didn't go to hospital in those cities ..but if the medical centre for officers at the University for the military was any indication ........My travel insurance evacuated me out of China because they did not have western standards and were using traditional chines methods on me keeping me crippled.

I've only met a handful of Chinese people, here in Thailand, and they all seemed pretty decent to me.

Don't understand all the generalising myself. P'raps if I ever live there I'll end up dissing 'em too, but I'll suspend judgement till then.

Their gov'ment's quite evil, but then so is the US' in some ways, and I like most of the Merkins I know.

More if you consider second child don't get counted and a highly mobile peasantry ( they can have more kids) So China's true population is close to two billion

The Cantonese have been known around the world as Chinese ,they have emigrated for centures...Wherein the mandarins ( Han) have always had a view that China is the best country and why move away.
The Chinese in Thailand and most other countries are from non Han heritage ,mostly Cantonese heritage or any of the 201 Chinese minority indigenous minority groups.

The Han are very smart and ruthless ,they have no heart and are the Nazis of China
( and always have been )

There are perhaps 50 million educated and cool Chinese. That leaves a shit load of others. Not saying they are bad. Hell I dont want to associate with uneducated Chinese. I have paid my dues around the world. I do not need that. Check out a low budget tour of Chinese to Thailand. Oy Boy.
