Company advertises on a few ESL job websites offering high salaries.

They will contact you asking you to complete and application form.
They will then tell you that they have conducted an interview for you with a prospective employer.
After your reply they will request $250 for a visa processing fee.

I Googled them and found that others had paid more and some had actually sent more than one payment.
Most of the people who were scammed appeared to be non--native speakers. I would presume that the high salary blinded them.

Many people got wise to this scam, so they've changed their ad slightly:

There are lots of red flags in this ad, but you would need to live in the UAE in order to pick up on them:

the domain in the email is for W. Samoa
there are no numbered street addresses in the UAE
the telephone exchange does not match the part of town it's meant to be in
"Ajman" listed in the email is actually a different emirates from Dubai).

I realised this new ad was a scam when the phone matched the ads listed earlier in this thread.

The thing to realise about the UAE is that you need to be pretty well-qualified to work there. K-12 certification or a MA TESOL for post-secondary positions. Those w/o proper credentials will never get the higher paying gigs that the UAE is known for.

Not only that but the capital of the UAE is Abu Dhabi, that's where the main Ministry offices are located.

As far as qualifications, you're right on, though I was making US$3,500 a month with round-trip airfare every two months, for a while.
