A limited number of scholarships are available each year from the following organisations:
- the Swedish Institute (SI) - for students from all over the world (including the Guest Scholarship Programme, the Visby Programme and the Master in Sweden for Eastern Europe).
Please study the information given at the homepage of SI carefully! The scholarships mentioned above should be applied for on the KTH application form for master's programmes. The programmes nominate scholarship candidates to the Swedish Institute. Please note that the number of scholarships is very limited and competition is fierce.
Living costs
All students must be able to cover personal living expenses, cost of literature, insurance, student union fee (approx 400 SEK/year), etc. in Sweden.
A financial statement will be required when applying for a student visa/residence permit at the Swedish Migration Board. The students should show they will have a minimum of SEK 7 300/month at their own disposal for the entire study period. Depending on costs for housing, food and leisure a typical student budget for one month in Stockholm would be (all costs in SEK):
Accommodation: 2 000-4 000
Food: 2 000
Local travel: 620 per month (30-day card)
Clothing, hobby/leisure: 450
Student Union fee: 60
Other (phone, insurance, hygiene etc): 1 700
Total, approximately: 6 830 - 8 830
In February 2008: USD 1 = 6,70 SEK; EUR 1 = 9,30 SEK (approximately).
Students should not bring cheques to Sweden, as international cheques will not be accepted by Swedish banks

- Canada: British Columbia Student Assistance Program (BCSAP)
