    “Before you speak, listen.
    Before you write, think.
    Before you spend, earn.
    Before you invest, investigate.
    Before you criticize, wait.
    Before you pray, forgive.
    Before you quit, try.
    Before you retire, save.
    Before you die, give.”

Have been adjusting for the last 3 months. Times have been waaaaaaaaay tougher than expected with every unimaginable-crazy speed-bump coming up. So many of the situations here have been out of my control. Family stressing me with shit that wasn't a problem while in Thailand. Nature biting my ass ie bed bugs. Started working $12/h PART TIME for the first month. Have since landed a full time ENTRY LEVEL position with entry level pay when friends are making more money... etc..

    ---Update---

Thanks for the awesome quotes everyone. Need some book recommendations. Preferably audio books/ebooks.

talking to a younger friend in nova scotia right now, distressing to hear he's earning 13bux an hour at 38. it's cold over there. what's the plan i ax him. donno. speed bumps beget speed bumps, mountains beyond mountains.

there are ways out if you're open to them. the problem with him is he isn't, just sticking to smallville, the devil you know and all that. and that's most people. having it easy in the west for so many years has not prepared people for much.

For God's sake mate. If anyone has to ask a basic question like that ... they should ask their mum.

I am lucky that my father knows a regional manager in the very successful company I work for. There opportunities for advancement if I keep my nose clean (haha) and do some courses. It is all within my reach but will take time. I will persevere. I'll bring my wife over and we'll have good times and bad but we will have each other and hopefully retire in Thailand (what a dream!) before we die!!

It's cold and cloudy? SAD is a pretty serious condition.

    ---Update---

steveo: Read The Millionaire Next Door. I'm also reading "English Teacher X: A TEFL Memoir". Quite fun.

I like the seasons in Canada.

I like the fact that you sometimes get perfect days, weather wise.

    Different strokes for different folks...

Maybe Thailand in the winter, Canada in summer.
