Thread: Throwing 500B away - anybody heard anything more about our famous TL's?

Don't you get your teacher's license from your school, who gets
it from the MOEmployment?

That's what happened for me. At least I think it did.

I think the piece of paper with my school and school's address
and a bunch of Thai writing and my picture on it is my TL.

When it was handed to me she said "This is your Teacher's License" too.

But now I'm not so sure.....?!?!?!

I think that is the standard private schools teachers license not the super 500B bad boy

As far as I understand private schools have always had a TL

The new one is not related to the private schools TL's. Separate things.

My TL cost 500B, but my school paid for it. I'm surprised so many out there are saying they had to pay.
The Thai Culture +++ training for private school teachers in Khon Kaen is on the 25th of this month. If there's a cost, it's also being covered by the school.

It's friend of a friend kind of story but what my frind told me, is that one of his friends (province 400 km from BKK - he did not know which one), took a test last Monday. It was an English test (reading comprehension etc) - you need 50% to pass, if you fail you have to attend a course on Thai Culture. He said there ware people for the local MoE to proctor the test.
I'm not sure however if it's true, and if it has anything to do with 500 BHT.

I didn't pay, never would have. What if it had been 5,000B? Y'all would have grumbled then paid, right?

Surprise....i actually got a receipt. There are 5 of us. 3 licensed teachers that have been here over a year and 3 non certified or education degrees. We were all told that we would all get a automatic teaching license since we were already on work visas and permits with all the paper required (including a letter from the university and copies of the envelopes front and back). We have had our fees in for 3 months now. When we asked we were told that it would take awhile. But we had to have our receipts to pick up our licenses. ?????? I wonder what we would do if we moved to another school before we get our licenses. Who would get it to us since it is sent i think to the school to us.??????????????

I'm sure they're in a big rush to get those licenses out to you guys. Why shouldn't they be, you paid for them, right?
