"I wonder what we would do if we moved to another school before we get our licenses. Who would get it to us since it is sent i think to the school to us.??????????????"
My understanding is that if you go to a different school your TL is no longer good and you have to apply for a new one.
It happened to me in KK. Both schools are in the same province.
When the new school year starts, will teachers be hit up again for the fee?
Miles and miles to go before I sleep...
I bet that when the school holidays start and everybody is getting ready to take their shoes off put their feet up on the desk and ride out two weeks before they go away. The MOE will ask us all to go for a test of some sort or make us attend training courses or touch ourselves in public or some such ludicrous act.
Now for our latest rumor, from the labor dept here in Nongkhai. "Once you have a teachers license in Thailand it is good anywhere in Thailand and it is an indefinant license (it does not expire). That is why it takes so long because as a farang we need to be sure other Thai teachers will have the ability to get jobs in the same fields." I also found out that the piece of paper with all the Thai writing that looks like a license is the year to year permit to teach at the school you are at. it is only a permit not a license. In addition, I found out that if you are part time you are not required to get a teaching license as you are considered a guest teacher. But, you still have to have a visa and work permit or self supportive status. This is the land of confusion and they wear a smile to hide the fact that they are all just as dumbfounded as we are.
I was under the impression (although it might have changed with the new rules) that while one half of the TL is yours FORALMOSTEVER the other half is for the school....so while you can keep your half as the school (if you change employers) has to put in for their half (with all of the paperwork needed for your half) there is no real advantage to holding it!!!
TW....I think by guest teacher you mean lecturer? Which I think only applies at certain types of schools (so if you were working for a language school and only doing 5 hours a week....to get a WP you'd still need a TL).
Riddle me this brother can you handle it

My my, how very cynical we are Mrsquirrel.I bet that when the school holidays start and everybody is getting ready to take their shoes off put their feet up on the desk and ride out two weeks before they go away. The MOE will ask us all to go for a test of some sort or make us attend training courses or touch ourselves in public or some such ludicrous act.

That will never happen.
Well, in any case, highly unlikely.
I suppose it's possible.
Hmm, sounds familiar.

Ah so kind. How refreshing. This is the land of confusion and they wear a smile to hide the fact that they are all just as dumbfounded as we are.
Perhaps what you meant to say was "wall eyed stupidity" here.![]()
