Just received an 'official' translation of our boy's birth certificate, and the cretin doing it has managed to totally garble my UK address.
"Hodge Hill" became "Hothill" and "Birmingham" became "Buerminghaml"
Added to that the street name and postcode were totally missing.
Just what brainless oafs are doing this bloody work? Have they heard of spell-checkers, the Internet, telephones (we gave them our number to call if they had any problems).
I despair. I really do.

I remember proof reading it. A few small typos, etc. Just took it down the road to the embassy and handed it in with the other forms. Did you get yours done at one of those translation places near the corner of Wireless Rd?

Ours was done by a woman at the Chiang Mai passport office (the big place on the road north to Mae Rim).
She even returned the photocopied page of my passport that shows my address, but clearly hadn't bothered to read it.

Many of the translation services around BKK are a bit backstreet. However, not the cheapest but a good un is 'Express Translation Services' near BTS Ploenchit (300 meter walk from the British Embassy). They did a trans. recently for me and 'Birmingham' came out right as Thai's normally splell it equating roughly 'Burmingheem' in Thai. This one word is unfortunately (as far as I know) to be one of many words from the English language that don't come out quite right. :chug:
