    Advice Wanted Urgently

    Help Please.

I work for a well known language school and I have a non B visa, a work permit and a teachers permit/licence.

First I don't know what the difference is between a teachers licence and a teaching permit. Both are currently kept by my employer along with my work permit.

Now I only work for the language school part time and I want to get a full time job and keep my part time job What do I do about the work permit?
Is it possible to have two jobs at different locations on the same work permit?

I have heard from others that our employer won't give us our teachers licence even if we leave - Is it easy to get a new one?

Any advice would be appreciated thankyou very much.

kens your man, sure he wouldn't mind you pming him (kenkannif)

1 i don't think you can do two jobs with one permit. unless you have the permit for one and just work without a permit for the other.

2 the teacher s licence is YOURS. it's in two parts- a bit for your school and a big, important bit that is YOURS.

I'd have thought a teachers licence and permit are basically the same thing.....just a licence (or maybe as Unwell mentioned there's two parts so maybe they're calling their half the permit and yours the licence...either way not a biggie).

Now I only work for the language school part time and I want to get a full time job and keep my part time job What do I do about the work permit?
I'm surprised you even got a WP if you're working part-time. It is (I'm pretty sure though never seen it with my own eyes) possible to get another job in the same WP....chances of it happening are slim though IMO! Also I wouldn't be overly worried about it as you've got one already so you don't have to do runs, and to be honest being 100% legal isn't something I'd be too worried about (I mean it's hard enough for a lot of people to get a work permit for one job....so don't be greedy!).

Is it possible to have two jobs at different locations on the same work permit?
I'm pretty sure as mentioned above, yes it is possible...unlikely to happen though IMO!

Well as your new school kind of has to put in again for their part of it, it's not a massive problem (as far as I know), push comes to shove you couldn't contact the MoE and confirm that one part is yours and ask them to inform your employer of this.

    Thankyou to all who replied.
I will ask at the dept of labour but I don't know of anybody having 2 workpermits.
So as Unwell said Perhaps I will do one job without a WP.

I will ask my current Employer for my Important bit of the teachers licence and see what happens. I want a full time job and a part time job not because I'm greedy it's just that most full time jobs pay 35,000 to 40,000 and I don't consider that enough to live on. So a full time job at 40,000 plus a part time job on 25,000 is nearly enough but Ok to get by.

Thanks again for the advice and I will PM Ken tomorrow.
I used to think I was poor. Then they told me I wasn’t poor, I was needy. Then they told me it was self-defeating to think of myself as needy. I was deprived. Then they told me that underprivileged was overused. I was disadvantaged. I still don’t have a dime. But I have a great vocabulary.

First I don't know what the difference is between a teachers licence and a teaching permit.
In our province we don't have a teacher license as explained in several posts at this board. We have a simple letter from the regional MoE stating that we are permitted to work for that certain school.

Is it possible to have two jobs at different locations on the same work permit?
I have one WP4-book with two jobs at two different locations for two different schools. One for 20 periods and one for 12 periods. It didn't work independently though. The first WP was issued for the 20 p-school. The 12 p-school had to ask permission from the 20 p-school for me working there too. That particular document was needed at Labour for adding the second job. All other needed documents such as the teacher permit, worked independently.

If you trust me you wouldn't ask that!

Since when do you have to do runs every 90 days when you have a wp?

Sometimes you do if you don't have a TL, which is why I asked! Or if you don't have a degree, or if you don't meet the minimum wage, or if your company/school doesn't have MoE certificate/capital/Thai staff etc.

    It happens a fair bit.

    No offence meant, just curious!

What kind of school do you work for (if you don't mind)?

    Two jobs one WP

This looks like what I need to do it's a good idea and If both employers agree then I stay legal and earn enough. All will be well in LOS for me.
    Thanks.

All the best with that! I still think it's far easier said than done....and why do you want to be paying two lots of tax etc.? It's nice to be legal, but there's no need to get carried away
