Conversion Tourist Visa to Non-Immigrant "B" Visa and extension...

Recently went to Immigration office to convert Tourist Visa to Non-Immigrant "B" Visa.

Submitted stack of paperwork, photos, and was interviewed too. Still, was told that I'd have to go there again to be told 'yes' or 'no' to conversion. (Little like flipping a coin, judging from the face of the Immigration dragon behind the counter...)

My question is, can I still get an extension for my Tourist Visa if they say 'no' to the conversion for any reason?

With regards to Godzilla behind the immigrations counter, it depends on which office/country you were applying in. Certain places have pretty nasty monsters.

As for being rejected, it's usually incomplete documents that cause that. In this case they'll tell you what additional documents are required and you can come back for another go. The rules change with the wind, so "required documents" is a vague idea all the time here in Thailand.

^ You can only extend in country mate (and no docs needed (generally) for a tourist extension (although it seems now you might have to show funds and/or an plane ticket))....although nationality can factor into it.

No, but you can convert yourself into a tourist mate (must bring your own knotted hanky and sun burn though).

Re: Conversion Tourist Visa to Non-Immigrant "B" Visa and extension...

Changing my wife from tourist to NON-O took 3 trips to immi, numerous calls from immmi to the school, but as the saying goes, the third time was the charm. I would expect it being the same as changing to a NON -B. On the second trip the officer waived the 21 day rule as he knew we were doing our best to chase down all the paperwork he wanted.
