How do I get a reentry permit?
Oct 13th I'm going back to America for a few weeks. Because my current single entry non-b visa was almost expired, I went to Laos this past weekend hoping to get a multiple entry non-b. I was told by some teachers that Laos still gave out multiple entry non-b visas and it would be cheaper in Laos. When I got there, I found out I was told wrong. They only give single enty non-b visas. So now I have to get a reentry permit so I don't lose my single non-b that I just got in Laos when I visit America.
I should have double checked. I know. Anyways, how do I get a reentry permit. I never got one before. Or how do I go about changing my single entry to a multiple entry before Oct 13th?
thanks,
Perry

Re: How do I get a reentry permit?
IMO just get a new visa in America, I know its a lot harder for you guys to get visas for Thailand but it has to be easier than doing it here lol.
As for a re-entry permit I think you do it at the place near Chong Nonsi.

Main Immigration a Suan Plu ahead of time or at the airport in a push. I think you need one photo.

Re: How do I get a reentry permit?
You just got it. You got to America for a few weeks. So you get back with about 45 days left. If you have a job just get the employer to write a letter. Give it to the counsel in USA. Get new Non Imm B. Maybe even multiple entry. Smaller offices are easier to work with than the Embassy or the Large consulate in LA. (Then you have at least 90 days on return.)
Re-entry permit 1000 baht. Google Thai Immigration and on the top there is a button for location in each region. Click. Find one near you. Photo, copy of Passport Pages (entry card, visa, any extensions, Photo Page), fill out form (again online at one of the left buttons, or get it at the office). Multiple re-entry 3600 baht (but really only useful if you have the year visa).
Now of course I am assuming that you are re-entering Thailand and not from orbit. In the case you would have to contact NASA.

What time does immigration close at the airport?
I leave Sunday night for America so I'll go to the airport tonight if they're open to get a reentry permit. If immigration is closed, I'll go to Suan Plu tomorrow. I prefer to do it tonight because I have some things scheduled for tomorrow already. Anyone know what time immigration closes at the airport?
thanks,
EP

Re: How do I get a reentry permit?
Late, the European flights leave late. But how are you gonna get through all the ticketing stuff? Its after you give in your tickets for boarding passes, at least it was at Don Muang.

Re: How do I get a reentry permit?
I see. I'll have to do it tomorrow then. I want to get it before the day I leave. I hate doing things last minute.

Re: How do I get a reentry permit?
Good go for it. Just grin and bear it there is not much else you can do. Fifteen minutes if you are lucky, and hour and a half if not.
The hour and a half thing is a worst case scenario. 45 minutes max and you should be out.

So do I, but Tuesday morning took my wife to the airport to put her on a plane back to the UK for a week (long story). Grabbed a taxi at Lat Prao MRT at 6.00am, no traffic flat out all the way, arrive at 6.30. No queue at check-in (Etihad), straight round to Re-entry Place (behind Row L), no queue, 15 minutes later permit issued, wave wife off through passport control - queue nit noi, jump in taxi at 06:50 - no fucking traffic again. Back home at 7.30!
Sure another time the whole thing could have taken 3-4 hours door to door, but at that time there was no q for ree-entry permits.
iOnly scary thing was the 2nd taxt dude had a TV on the dashboard and spent most of the trip cursing and waving his fist as the Police waded into PAD, teargas etc. Still we made it in one piece.

Re: How do I get a reentry permit?
A slight follow on question......
I've just got a re-entry permit. When I come back, what do I put for the visa number when I fill in the arrivals card. Do I put the orginal visa number or the re-entry permit number. I assume it's the re-entry permit number but it's good to know for sure.

Re: How do I get a reentry permit?
I got mine last week at the airport. Very easy....they are behind a glass screen, just after you check in with your airline and before you go through Immigration. Walk up to the desk, ask for a form (best to print your own!)....be sure to bring a photo. Allow extra time, as there were about 10 ahead of mine. I think it took about 1/2 an hour.
Yes, write down your re-entry permit number on your arrival form when you come back, not the old visa number as Ageing one said..... I've done that and they do get pissy....

What size photo is it, fellas?
I fly out on the 23rd but I'm thinking of doing the re-entry at Suan Pluu early (this week) anyway, just to have it done (and I have business down that way anyway). I don't know, I just hate Suvannabooom so much I like to minimize any 'to do's there.
So it's 1000 baht, right? Also, anybody think they'll be short hours or any other issues at Immigration during the week of mourning starting soon?
Or should I not worry, just wear black and smile & twinkle my eyes at the paperpusher ladies as per usual.
