have a non-immagrant visa but no work permit?? Be careful!

Hi, I just wanted to warn people of having a non-immagrant B visa but not having a work permit......
I was working as a teacher in thailand and my agency organised a non-immagrant 'B' visa for me......
However they never gave me my work permit........Myabe they just didnt give it to me or maybe they didnt even organise this for me....
My problem came about when I needed to fly out of thailand....At immagration they asked to see my work permit......ofcourse I didnt have this,
and didnt even know I needed it to fly out of thailand......they pulled me to one side with the other guy who had overstayed his tourist visa....
at first i didnt think they would let me on the plane....i had been working in thailand for months with no work permit in ignorance....thinking my agency
    sorted that stuff out.....
They let me on the plane with seconds to go!! i literally held the plane up.......they fined me i think it was 1000 baht.....but let me on the plane....
it could have been much worse I suspect....working for months without a work permit...Im sure there are other people who dont know you need a WORK PERMIT to just fly out of thailand if you are on a non-immagrant B visa.....out of interest has this happened to anyone else? Couldimmagration stop me from getting on the flight all together? I think they very nearly did......What are the implications of working in Thailand without a work permit? I think it was iressonsible of my agency to let me get in this position as they knew of my flight.....

I paid more than that for overstaying 5 days on tourist visa.

Not happened to me, possibly because I've always been returning, and the school office collect my re-entry permit for me from the local immigration office. I now assume that they must hoik the WP with them.

I think it was iressonsible of you...whatever that is...

...but seriously..do you often do things with serious ramifications and leave all the necessary legal details to others?...that's just stupid...but fortunately for you luck usually helps balance out stupidity...at least it did in this case...

Thaitanium; Yes I do...when the agency has a legal department specially to deal with such matters.
Petch; you have an attitude problem when facing a computer screen.

Shame, this forum is more for people like thaitanium and petch..losers who dont know how to be witty but try to be all the same...(no more replys from me on this)

To anyone who uses the forum for information sharing and to be helpful to others- Thanks.

Shit where's the boo hoo emoticon?

So you come to a new country with a vastly differing culture and system to your own and you decide the best course of action is to ignore critical issues that affect your legal status in said country...then you cry about how the incompetent agency put you in a serious legal situation...

Then upon having your ineptitude pointed out to you...you reply with " you're a loser"

    epic!!...

You're story is not complete if not ridiculous, Paul2012.

So many people fly out on a non-immigrant B visa. Things become different when you have an extension of the permission of stay based on employment. When you fly out before expiration Immigration might ask you why you don't have a re-entry permit and would like to see the employment termination letter and or the work permit cancellation form.
